How Legislation Affects Me and Others Legislation is defined as the act of making or enacting laws. Legislation affects me, the local community, people who are disabled and working adults. I will show how well they serve their purpose and whether they are successful in what they are set out to do. A number of legislations affect the way I live my life at home and school. The main type of legislation being copyright which basically stops me from stealing peoples work and using it as my own whether it be pictures, videos, music or even books. It is defined as the legal right to control the production, use, and sale of copies of a literary, musical, or artistic work so it stops people copying items without the author's permission for example copying cd's and selling them to make a profit which is rightfully the authors. Music would be the main problem because of the increase in peer to peer software such as Kazaa. Musical downloads have increased rapidly due to the increasing number of internet users and word of mouth. And because of this illegal music downloads often take place without the artists' permission and the users' knowledge, an attempt to stop the download of music is taking place but because of the millions of users it is difficult. There are some attempts to give artists a chance to have their work involved with the internet and so some new websites charge a small fee for the downloading of music and a percentage of the money earned goes towards the artist so they get something rather than nothing. This is the same with images and text, if I were to place text off a website into a piece of work I would read through it and take key points and put them into my own words so the work is noticeably different and is clear that I have understood them. As I own a website the copyright act applies for me, I need to ensure all the content is mine and if I were to use any pictures or information I would ensure I
In this assignment I am going to describe three different Health and Safety legislations that promote the safety of individuals within a health and social care setting.
Many Americans in today's society will find it difficult to answer the question of what Congress exactly does and why it exists. Others simply don't care and see Congress as a failed system where nothing gets done. Lee Hamilton, in his book Why Congress Works and Why you Should Care, proves these people wrong and gives an insider's look at what Congress actually does do and how it affects every American each day.
The Human Rights Act of 1998 came into power in October 2000, and it represent an honourable epitome of ethical and moral ideologies. As for any idealistic expectations, one must query the effectiveness of the Human Rights Act of 1998 at meeting all its aims in the context of aiding, safeguarding and supporting those in need of assistances from the Social Services in the UK.
Political systems within the United States work together to establish laws and create boundaries for their people. Government officials work with the Senate in Congress to help establish regulations not only for the American people but also for corporations in order to not become monopolies in today’s market. This all corresponds to a legislative process in order for Congress to have a clear idea of passing effective laws that help reinforce results within our society. Members of Congress and political affiliations are impacted by representatives from large business corporations through the process of bribing these government officials into supporting the ideas and desires of these corporations. In order for this to occur, these companies engage in lobbying. Lobbying is the attempt to influence government officials in decision making processes or swaying the government by employing tactics through various agreements in the form of verbal or written statements to public officials in Congress. This usually occurs through donations of large amounts of money to members of Congress as a way of bribing them to support the representatives of these corporations. Therefore, corporations have widely influenced Congress, making it difficult to pass laws and bills that are not in favor of these corporations. Thus, lobbying is influenced by money and promotes the interests of these specific corporations.

Most people have either read or heard of the book 1984 in some point in their high school career. Some may see it as just fictional literature that we learn in English class, but it could become seeing as to how our government is handling national security. In 1984, the author, George Orwell talks about a society in which one group of people runs society and everyone is under surveillance. This was something that people in the 1980s would not think possible, so how could Orwell have thought of this plot when writing the book during the 1940s? It could have been due to the progress in technology such as radio, film, television. The fear of government interference could have also been produced because World War II was present the time 1984 was created, from which Orwell twists in his book. What is even more interesting is that the Cold War is somehow described in 1984 and it pretty much became true. With the Cold War having taken place, U.S. citizens were worried that people among them could be a Communist; the enemy of the U.S. and capitalism. Because of their fear, people started to accuse one another of being communists, which led to them being imprisoned with little and what was, invalid evidence. This is now referred to as the ‘Red Scare’ where ‘Red’ symbolized Communism. After this so called war, there was a time of peace where the likelihood of there being another ‘Red Scare’ was very unlikely, until the unforgettable date, September 11, 2001, or often referred to as 9/11 where the government’s fear of terrorist presence begun.
This voter guide covers Proposition 55, Extension of the Proposition 30 Income Tax Increase. Some pros are that it only will affect the top 1.5% of Californians and will not raise any current taxes. Some cons are that it will extend an increase that was meant to be temporary and that it is not necessary considering the projected 11.5 billion dollars in budget reserves at the end of the 2016-2017 fiscal year. My recommendation is to vote in opposition of this proposition because doing so will promote the growth of small businesses, jobs, and the economy. It would also be more beneficial to optimize our current budget instead of depending on taxing the rich.

The pharmaceutical industry has a high stake in the passage of laws and they protect their interests by maintaining a substantial presence of lobbyists. In 2010, there were approximately 3,000 health care lobbyists in Washington (Attkisson). Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is a trade group that represents 48 pharmaceutical companies and is one of the largest lobbying groups in Washington. They currently represent some of the largest pharmaceutical companies including Bayer HealthCare LLC, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, Merck & Co., and Pfizer (PhRMA).
State and local governments influence the federal legislature by: All state governments are modelled after the federal government and they comprise of Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Most state and local government officials usually seek to influence the content of national policies especially in generating intergovernmental lobby (Steier, 1985). There is increase of professionalism in state and local governments which give units the basic knowledge and ability to meet with the legislators and provide information which may influence legislation. Also, the growth in federal grants to state and local governments enables programs to have potential for the federal government to regulate the behavior of the state and local governments. In addition, many regulations and requirements that federal programs impose on the states and localities are sometimes open to modification, give discretion, and power to state and local officials.

All around the world there are laws made by municipal, provincial, and federal governments that are made to have a positive impact on its people. If you decide to rob a bank, or decide to hijack a vehicle, there are serious consequences due to the law. These laws positively impact our society by giving our society safety, but do laws such as the Consumer Protection Act, or the Employment Standards Act also give us a positive effect? Both of these acts are made up of many different parts, and I will be going through parts of both acts in this essay.
Disability: Any person who has a mental or physical deterioration that initially limits one or more major everyday life activities.
