How Is Cinderella Different From Other Cultures

Cinderella is known all around the world. Cultures are never exactly the same but yet they have some things in common. The main thing they have in common is fairy tales. The story of Cinderella is told all around the world. It is told in many different languages and in many different versions. Some cultures have other names for their Princess. In some versions the Cinderella of the story is not a girl it is a boy. Cultures have some of the same fairytales but their versions are a little different from the ones known today. One of the most common fairy tales known around the world is Cinderella. Cinderella is usually a pretty girl with evil stepsisters and a stepmother that treat her poorly.

The version in the United States is known as Cinderella. Cinderella's mother dies when she is young and her father remarries. The woman he gets married to has two daughters. They become Cinderella´s new evil stepsisters. Her sisters are jealous because she is very pretty and petite. They treat her very poorly. She is to do chores around the house and attend to every need of her stepmother and stepsisters. The Prince is having a ball and requests that every available lady in the kingdom attends. Cinderella is told by her stepmother that she can not attend the ball unless she finishes her chores. She finishes her chores and

gets ready. Her sister's tear her dress apart so she cannot go. After her stepmother and sisters leave she goes into the garden. Her fairy godmother appears and gives her a beautiful dress, glass slippers, and carriage. The only rule is that she is to be home by midnight because all of her stuff will turn into how it was originally. She loses a glass slipper as she runs away from the Prince because she was late. He searches the kingdom for her Princess. He finally finds his Princess and they live happily ever after.
The Irish Cinderlad is a version of Cinderella from Ireland. This version is of a boy instead of a girl. Becan´s mother dies and his father gets remarried(Climo). He now has evil stepsisters and a stepmother(Climo). They do not like him because they think is is ugly(Climo). He has very big feet(Climo). He is treated poorly and becomes a cowherder(Climo). While he is in the field one day he becomes friends with a magical bul(Climo)l. This magical bull gives him food because his stepmother starves him(Climo). One day his stepsisters and stepmother find out about this magical bull and that it has been feeding him(Climo). His stepmother orders for the bull to be killed and Becan overhears(Climo). Becan and the bull run away so he cannot be killed(Climo). The bull fights with another bull and dies(Climo). He told Becan to twist his tail and take it anywhere with him and it could help him(Climo). Becan finds a man to work with(Climo). He becomes a cowherder for the man(Climo). He fights a giant and wins(Climo). The giant was to give Becan his boots(Climo). He is told that a beautiful princess is tied to a pole and if she is not saved then a sea dragon would come up and take her into the ocean(Climo). Becan fights the sea dragon and wins(Climo). He runs off and loses his boot on the way(Climo). The Princess searches all over to find her Prince. She finally finds him and they live happily together(Climo).
In these two versions their mother dies when they are young.

Both of their fathers remarry and they end up with new stepsisters and a stepmother. They are both treated very poorly. One difference is that Cinderella is a girl and Becan is a boy. Another difference is that Cinderella is to do chores around the house and Becan is to be a cowherder. Cinderella is very pretty and petite. Becan is ugly and has very big feet. In Cinderella the Prince goes looking for Cinderella when she loses her glass slipper after she leaves the ball. In the Irish Cinderlad the Princess goes looking for Becan after he loses his boot after he fights the sea dragon and saves

her.
Pear Blossom is the name of a beautiful Korean Princess(Climo). Her parents wished for a child and when they finally had little Pear Blossom they planted a pear blossom tree(Climo). One day no leaves appeared on the tree and her mother died(Climo). Her father got remarried to a woman who had a daughter. Her daughter´s name was Peony(Climo). Omoni her new stepmother bossed her around(Climo). Omoni had given Pear Blossom multiple tasks to do(Climo). There was no way Pear Blossom could get them done(Climo). For each task a different animal would appear and help her with what she was to do(Climo).
Settareh means star(Climo). This was the name of a Persian Princess(Climo). She had a little birthmark in the shape of a star on her cheek(Climo). She had beautiful dark hair(Climo). Her aunts and cousins also live with her along with her stepmother, stepsister, and father(Climo). A big New Year's Celebration was going to be held. Her father gave her and all the other maidens in the house money to buy fabric to make a dress for the celebration(Climo). At the market Settareh gave an old woman money and bought a little blue jug(Climo). She later found out that the blue jug was enchanted(Climo). The jug would grant her every wish. She wishes for a new sash for the celebration(Climo). At the celebration she meet a nice young man. She had to beat her stepmother home. In the process of leaving she loses her anklet(Climo). Her stepsisters found out that she was the one at the celebration(Climo). They broke her blue jug and out fell the hairpins(Climo). They offered to fix her hair. They plunged the hairpins into her created a spell(Climo). She turned into a songbird(Climo). She went and sang to the Prince every afternoon(Climo). Her saw the pins and realized who it was. After he had removed the pins the spell was lifted(Climo).
