Once every four years American citizens who are at least eighteen years old vote for president of the united states. The candidate who receives the most electoral vote wins. A president cannot serve for more than two terms or eight years. President Barack Obama was elected as the 44th president of the united states in 2008. (“Barack Obama”). According to TheWhiteHouse biography “Barack Obama”, he was a senator before being elected as president. Obama also performed years of public service because of his belief in the ability to unite people around a politic of purpose. Based upon his economy, education, and health care policies, president Obama was a successful president.

President Obama’s policies on economy helped make a great president. One of Obama’s main economic policies was characterized by moderate tax increase on higher income Americans. This policy was designed to fund health care, and was mostly successful. Obama’s economic policies also included reforming and reducing the federal budget deficit. Over the two terms served by president Obama, he managed to shrink the deficit by a little under one trillion dollars. Barack Obama wanted the citizens of the united states to have more affordable healthcare options therefore, Obamacare was created. The official name of the law is The Patient Protection Affordable Care Act. Reforming the health insurance industry was very important to Obama. “ Because of Obamacare 20 million Americans now know the financial security of health insurance.” (Barack Obama, October 20, 2016). Obama wanted to reduce the wasteful spending in healthcare. Barack Obama had concluded that America could reduce healthcare spending by about one trillion dollars.
