Do you think our society has changed for better or for worse? Well, some people say that it has changed for better because women have gotten rights, we have new ways of communicating, segregation is no longer aloud, and cars have changed. My opinion in this matter is that the world has changed for the worse. There are so many more things that have made it worse than there is that has made it better including abuse, kids dropping out, teenage pregnancies, parents not caring, kids aren't grateful, families don't spend time with each other, parents are divorcing, and there are a lot more. There are so many reasons that society has changed for the worse. In my point of view people do not care anymore. Do you ever wonder why people do the things they do? Maybe we don't know why everyone does the things they do, but there are many reasons that people have started abusing drugs and alcohol. Some people want to try to change things about themselves or forget their past. Many people in this situation have been associated with abuse in some type of way. There is emotional, physical, mental, social, and animal abuse. With doing these things it only makes it worse, that is why it is …show more content…
This shows how much society has changed. Many teenagers have started rebelling against their parents or the parents do not care anymore. Also many parents have quit disciplining their children too. Teen pregnancy can start off as a regular relationship. If a teenager feels that they are not cared enough about in the home, they may end up seeking attention from someone else. Some parents allow their children to drop out, which leads to them expecting things from their parents and being ungrateful. Getting things given to you all of the time keeps you from learning responsibility, which can lead to lack of getting a job. This has led to people being homeless or even people starting on
...an see, there are many reasons why children and teenagers may misbehave. They could be tired, hungry, sick or just scared of the position they're in. There could be problems at home with family, fighting, and competition, and attention seeking within society. Children are easier to understand to why they misbehave but when it comes to teenagers it’s a little ridiculous. They will make lousy decisions that can cause a rough road ahead of them all because they want to be noticed. It’s unpleasant to see what this society has come too.
That being said, drugs and alcohol, can cause ones to lose their lifestyle and even their loved ones. Using and abusing drugs and alcohol can also lead to addiction. This creates a whole different empire in one’s life. Some may even steal, lie and cheat, just to obtain their ability to get there next fix. Sometimes getting their next fix can even create a door way to putting them in jail or prison. Even to the point of no return, this could create the loss of one’s own
Because of this new demographic, people started seeing teenagers differently than children, as they did before. They had more freedom; they would be able to go out after school, they would start doing some “adult” activities, such as working. They had more independence from their parents. Teenagers would usually want to stay alone in their rooms talking to friends over the rotary dial phone (if they had one) or they would sneak out at night to go to clubs and parties.
Sooner or later, we all through a traumatic event that makes life more difficult for us to handle. Trauma can be a sustained series of events (such as an abusive relationship) or a single event. Sadly, even a single traumatic event may compel someone to turn to drugs and alcohol. In fact, it can even cause to addiction to these substances, throwing a person 's life even further off track.
In 2010, an estimated 23.5 million Americans were addicted to alcohol and/or drugs and needed treatment or supportive services (Partnership for drug free kids). Most people make the assumption that those that are addicted to a substance are just making poor choices. I will have to admit that I was one of those people that thought that it should be easy to quit something so toxic. It wasn 't until I did the research myself that I found addiction is actually a disease. It takes a lot more then willpower to just stop using something that a person 's brain has become so accustomed to. With all of the advances in science we now have a better idea of what leads to addiction. This doesn 't mean that poor choices and life decisions don 't attribute to addiction, but these causes increase the likelihood of an individual becoming addicted to a substance. The majority of individuals that abuse drugs or alcohol will admit to having a history of childhood trauma, alcoholics in the family, or drug use in their social circle.
Substance abusers do not care who they hurt or why they hurt them. A lot of people that are addicted hurt the people they love the most like children and parents. People in the prison system that has been convicted of violent crimes most of them say that they were under the influence of some type of drug or alcohol. Putting these types of individuals in prison is a problem. They are put in there to get rehabilitated and help with their drug problem.
After a teen gets pregnant they start thinking of a way to hide it from their parents,The big problems start then. Many reasons teens think of are suicide, abortion and many other reasons. Abortions are becoming more frequent due to the ignorance and intolerance of certain societies around the world. This leads to the death of many teenage mothers as well as their children. There a lot of things that can cause an unplanned teen pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual encounters at a young age. Another reason is the lack of guidance due to parents that do not take care of their children. For some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens pregnancy is unplanned (Website Title: Teen Ink,Article Title: Teenage Pregnancy,Date Accessed: April 03, 2014).
Drug abuse is part of everyday life, most of us know someone who is or was abusing drug at some point. A way to simplify a difficult time in our life, we find an exit in a product that numbs our brain to the surrounding. People find addiction through drugs, activities and action that creates chemical reaction within our bodies. Whether you love jumping off the empire state building or inject yourself with a drug, you are looking for a high that your body enjoys. The body creates chemicals which stop our self-control. According to the CDC website, “Deaths from drug overdose have been rising steadily over the past two decades and have become the leading cause of injury death in the United States.” (Birnbaum HG, web).
Children born to teen mothers are also twice as likely to be victims of abuse and neglect” In other words, due to the lack of education a teen parent tend to have, it will affect the child because the parent will not be to provide a correct one. Also, the majority of teen pregnancies tend to be unplanned. Therefore, children are who suffer since they were not desired hurting their esteem and assertiveness.
According to Stephanie Coontz relationships between parents and teenagers have become more troubled because society is failing to prepare young people for the demands of today's adulthood. Young people suffer from "rolelessness" as a result of the historical extend of adolescence, with puberty coming earlier and full adulthood coming later. The problem with rolelessness has become harder for the newer generations in my opinion, kids nowadays need that role model/mother-father figure because they are easily influenced by their surroundings. Rolelessness has become a risk among the young.
There are many different attributes to teenage pregnancy. The majority of teenagers do not realize the consequences of their actions. Taking that into consideration the influences of the teens are highly important during the pre teen stage all the way to adult hood. During the time of this impressionable stage many of the teens are having sex not because of love, but because it is a trend. The media is glamorizing teen pregnancy and leading to a cultural shift.
Teenage pregnancy develops physical anomalies, an abnormal social life for a teen, a decrease in education, and can cause an unstable life financially. Lack of parental care can cause physical problems for both the child and the mother. The mothers social life can also be affected by making them leave their friends behind as she cares for her newborn. Teen mothers are also more likely to drop out of high school due to complications in caring for their child. Stable jobs are typically harder to find with a lack of higher education and cause financial instability for the mother. From its peak in 1990, teen pregnancy rates have declined by 42% by 2008 (Healthyteennetwork.org) yet this is still higher than any first world country. Teen pregnancy is an ongoing battle and should be considered won when it is eradicated.
Teenagers are still kids. So basically we have a bunch of kids having kids which is insane. Teenagers aren’t ready to be parents until they have grown up themselves. Teens aren’t able to raise a steady family, they don’t have jobs, their children won’t have fathers, and they aren’t responsible enough for that yet. To be a parent you need discipline, education, and finances. Teens have none of that. The teenagers shouldn’t have to have all of that forced onto them at such an early age. What type of teen would give up friends, proms, their education, and their whole life just to change diapers, feed and take care of a baby. Teenagers already don’t like waking up early in the morning for school, so why would they to take care of a baby in the middle of the night? That’s just it, they wouldn’t. Teenagers are just too young to be having kids When their only kids. Teenage...
Society does have some good things that has changed and some bad. We all as people are responsible for the change (Macionis). We pressure people to be this type of way and that type of way. People say Society has changed for the worst but not all would say that society has changed for the best. Everyone has an opinion, it only takes one person to make a
