In 1995, Notorious B.I.G released the song “Who Shot Ya.” Tupac interpreted this as a mocking of the previous shooting. Tupac later retaliated with the song “Hit Em Up” where he claimed to have sex with B.IG’s wife. In “Hit Em Up,” Tupac directly calls out Notorious B.I.G for his song, “Who Shot Ya” and told him how his men couldn’t finish the job. One of the many adversities he had to adapt to was the feuds of the East and West Coast. This influenced his songs and the way his fans depicted the East Coast, Bad Boys. He also had to deal with the way blacks were treated and looked at by the white community. Conformity can be very crucial, infact a lot of people eventually start hurting themselves or doing drugs just because they don't feel themselves anymore.Why can't society change? why can't that one kid that always follows everyone in the back can turn into the kid that just hangs with the people they really wanna hang with?We need to embrace ourselves so we can stop all this conformity from consuming us.Tupac was a nonconformist, he always did what made him happy and always told the truth.
Tupac Shakur (2pac) was known as one of those rappers that has made a difference in the black community during the 90’s. All his music talked about the reality of black lives and the struggle of being black not only for black men but also for black women. His songs gave hope to African Americans, and to help them see that black was/is beautiful. Even though Tupac has many hit songs and albums, Keep Ya Head Up has been one of the best songs that Tupac has ever recorded! “The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice the darker the flesh the deeper the roots”.
Through all his family and education issues, he stood up to become a well-known hip-hop artist according to his history background. He released a couple albums and then was offered to be in some movies. He made some songs and music videos with them that made it big on the Billboard charts. Both a rapper and an MC, Tupac Shakur was a very famous artist during his short time on Earth. Better known as “Makaveli” or “2pac,” Shakur influenced many young teens and adults his age. 2Pac was born in East Harlem, NY during June of 1971. The name Tupac comes from a revolutionary leader who was killed after leading a revolution against the spanish in the 18th century. Most of the family Tupac was raised around were involved with crimes, drugs, and charge convictions. His first job in the industry as an MC was with a hip-hop group Digital Underground. Along with being an MC for this group, he was also a backup dancer and roadie. Tupac was born on June 16, 1971, Tupac Amaru Shakur. He was named after Tupac Amaru, the Inca Indian that was sentenced to death by the Spaniards. He was originally from Brooklyn, New York. Immediately after Tupac Shakur’s murder the night of September 7, 1996, possible suspects were targeted and investigated. Among the earliest accused was Suge Knight, the creator of Death Row Records (Scott 183). Shakur’s contract with Death Row was a profit vacuum for Knight because of Shakur’s immense talent and popularity. Growing up was never easy for him he was shot 5 time during a mugging and the next year got sentenced to 4 and a half year for sexual assault. In the 80s Tupac and his family moved to California where he joined a hip-hop group and had a hit song. After their hit song Tupac decide to go solo where he did great. In 2010 he had sold over 75 million albums making him one of the best-selling rappers to ever have live. His songs and poems were about major topics not just nonsense, they were about violence and hardship in inner cities racism and other social problems. Tupac Shakur was well known for positive lyrics in his music, but unfortunately had a life riddled with controversies and run-ins with the law. His history with the judicial system and the way he lived his life could not be covered up by the positivity themes his songs conveyed. Many of Shakur’s real life occurrences completely contradict the lyrics of his songs. Although he may have had a “do as I say, not as I do” mentality, and his songs were mostly uplifting and encouraging, he did not live up to those messages.

Through struggle and hardships he found his flow. He showed the world that something can come from nothing. During Tupac's childhood, he was known as the "Black Prince," for misbehaving. When Tupac was two his sister, Sekyiwa, was born. A few months before she was born, her father, Mutula, had been sentenced to 60 years for a fataled armed car robbery. Without his step father the family went through hard times. Tupac was very distressed, because they moved to the Bronx, Harlem, and homeless shelters. Tupac stated that he cried all of the time. He couldn't fit in because he was from everywhere, and didn't have any buddies to grow up with.
