Tupac Shakur
Tupac Shakur was well known for positive lyrics in his music, but unfortunately had a life riddled with controversies and run-ins with the law. His history with the judicial system and the way he lived his life could not be covered up by the positivity themes his songs conveyed. Many of Shakur’s real life occurrences completely contradict the lyrics of his songs. Although he may have had a “do as I say, not as I do” mentality, and his songs were mostly uplifting and encouraging, he did not live up to those messages.
In his song “Keep Ya Head Up”, Tupac says, “I’m still tryin to hold on to survivin friends,”(Shakur et al.) although in his actual life he seemed to be careless due to the assault cases and shootings that he was involved in. If a person was to listen to this specific lyric in Shakur’s song, he or she may feel as though he would sympathize with people who may have lost someone as a result of violence. However, Wikipedia says that he was involved in at least three shootings and three assault cases (“Tupac Shakur”). I believe that a songwriter who wrote the types of lyrics that Tupac did, would not be so reckless with his life and the lives of others around …show more content…

His life was overwhelmed with too many assault cases and shootings to say that he believed every lyric that he wrote. From his sexual assault case to the shootings he was involved with, almost every part of his personal life contradicted his professional life and what he was promoting in his music.
