First impressions of individuals are frequently long lasting, especially in the thoughts of kids. Numerous times these impressions, supported through confusion and prejudgment, cause undeserved discrimination and judgment against any individual in which in this case is Boo Radley. In To kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee illustrates the themes of misinterpretation and bias. For example, when Boo gets into some trouble with the law and gets charged with assault and battery. Also, when Boo returns fifth- teen years later and its stated that he tried to kill everyone in his household, which was considerably untrue. This is shown when Miss Maudie's house caught on fire. Attics wakes up both Jem and Scout and tells them to wait outside because a neighbor house caught on fire. As they both was outside they see that its Miss. Maudie’s house being burnt by the seconded. During this time Scout was really cold and started to freeze but without her noticing Boo came up to her and covered her with a blanket. Later that night Atticus noticed that Scout had a blanket around her and asked where it came from, Scout stated that didn't know. They came to the conclusion that it was Boo Radley because they were standing directly in front of his fence. Attics told Scout that she should thank him. Scout replied and said "Thank who? Boo Radley. Attics stated, you were so busy looking at the fire you didn't know it when he put the blanket around you.”( Page 72) Even though Scout appears frightened to hear that Boo Radley was only inches from her, she is beginning to realize that the mysterious man is trying to protect and befriend her; it is also shown that Boo gains the sympathy of Scout at this point in the
