During the middle age era we realize that they had norms that most of them were sectioned by them. Satire is widely used in the wife of bath's tale and prologue which adds life and gives the story a good humor to it. Now with the norms given comes through otherness towards other types of groups.There have many many different points of views towards the middle ages and there types of beliefs and norms that they had. Chaucer uses satire to give a hysterical type of mood to his description of the wife of bath's story. Due to chaucer living as a poor man and also a rich man he was able to experience both the good and bad aspects of the groups, which made him want to show the people as a funny a somewhat entertaining way. The most common views that are evident towards priest, nuns, and monks can widely be changed with Chaucer's story of “The wife of bath”. The heads of these religions are supposed to help show God that people are exceptional and to also give people some kind of hope that there is somewhere else then besides earth.
