The place we were born, the place we live in has a huge impaction on us, and those effects gradually form our identities. But, it is more than physical state; it is about our spiritual lives. The place I call home is where nourished my dreams, shaped my personality, and cultivated my mind. Identity was mostly created when we were born: ethnicity, physical features, and nationality. Although some of those may change over the time; the identity is truly a part of our lives that makes us unique.

2. How are we ‘made of the earth’? Moore writes “ Minerals from eroding mountains strengthen your bones and mine. Willamette River water rushes through my veins; Elk Creek water through yours. It’s the watery Oregon winter sun that transforms my fat into vitamins.” Indeed, thanks to the resources that the earth gives us, we can exist. The earth provides us food to eat, water to drink, and the air to breath. Those things nurture our bodies, and become a part of our bodies. How would you answer Moore’s urgent questions: ‘If place is this important in the construction of our selves, then what becomes of us when we never stay long in one place?’ AND, ‘If people are defined by their landscapes, then what happens to our selves- our integrity, our wholeness- when those landscapes are destroyed?’ There are people who live all of their lifetime in one place. There are also people who live in many places in their life to explore the world, to experience new things, and to make their life more interesting.
