Women have played a significant role even though they were not in position of power. Women have impacted their society and did many things for the citizens although nobody has really noticed it. Two women that have impacted their society is Queen Elizabeth and Empress Theodora. Empress Theodora was one women who had impacted her society and did what was right for citizens. She helped her people defeat the invaders. Justinian and some of his people were going to leave their city to be safe, but Theodora stopped them. She gave a speech saying to fight with courage to the death and Justinian and his people defeated the rebellion (The World Almanac pg. 27). Therefore, Theodora also gave women rights. When divorced they can own their own
property and raised their children. Abandoning infants was also outlawed (The World Almanac pg. 26 and 27). Empress Theodora did many things that had impacted her society and gave women some rights. Queen Elizabeth was another woman who had also impacted her society and helped make the city grow. Elizabeth defended her country from the Spanish fleet. They came with 130 big ships that had 17,000 soldiers, but she did not panic. The queen sent troops to protect the coast from the Spanish fleet. They had defeated the Spanish Armada in three battles ( Meltzer pg. 429 ). In addition, arts flourished during her reign. Musicians sang, people performed played, and artists painted at house parties. Theaters began to thrive and musicians and writers began to flower also( Meltzer pg. 427 and 428 ). Queen Elizabeth fought for her society and increased the arts of the empire. Empress Theodora and Queen Elizabeth were both great role models that impacted their society. They both fought against invaders that tried to invade their country. Theodora and Elizabeth had made their societies stronger and better and some of it has impacted us today.
Have you ever wondered how women helped our country? There was and still are women who changed or change the world today. Like Shirley Muldowney,and Rose Will Monroe, or Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Susan B. Anthony, maybe Hillary Clinton. Some of these women changed little things and some changed big things, but they all made a difference in their own way.

Women have always played a major role in history. Despite the hardships, pain and trials most of the women experienced, they still succeeded in enduring some of the differences between their opposite sex. Throughout history, women have always been fighting for their freedom, thus this fight still goes on in this present time. Women had a great role in shaping America as what it is right now. They, not only the fact that took care of the welfare of their family, but also were responsible to the increase in the population of early settlers causing expansion, diverse ethnicity and distinct cultures among the early colonies.
Women had a role in the forming of our country that many historians overlook. In the years leading to the revolution and after women were political activists. During the war, women took care of the home front. Some poor women followed the army and assisted to the troops. They acted as cooks, laundresses and nurses. There were even soldiers and spies that were women. After the revolution, women advocated for higher education. In the early 1800’s women aided in the increase of factories, and the changing of American society. Women in America were an important and active part of achieving independence and the framing of American life over the years.
It can easily be seen that while men were considered to be the most powerful and wisest humans and gods, women had the power to significantly influence these men. Of course, this is not much different from the society we live in today. While many may believe that women have still not reached the point of true equality, it is hard to say that they are inferior and the significance of their roles in society is undeniable.
So, are you still inclined to think that because you only see men in literature, that women have not made significant contributions? I should hope not. Golda Meir dedicated her life for a cause she believed; in it is well known and well written about. Born a poor Jew in the former USSR, todays Ukraine, raised in Milwaukee USA, she signed the declaration of independence, and was the Prime Minister of Israel. Golda Meir was once a small girl who reached for the stars and became one.
Women’s suffrage was a defining moment for Canada because women made up approximately half the Canadian population. By giving them the right to vote, it allowed Canada to be a more democratic country. Women getting the right to vote had a huge impact on the election of 1917 because women who were married to soldiers in the war could vote because of the War time Elections Act. It was also a big step for women to get involved more in the society during World War 1. In addition, the women contributed in the war effort a lot by making the products sent over seas to our soldiers, who had left their jobs to fight for their country in World War 1. This also was creating other opportunities for the women to get involved with society by taking the men’s places in the factories.

Women took over the roles for men in the workplace who were fighting abroad during the early 1940s, and a strong, feminist movement rose in the 1960s. However, in between these time periods, there was a time in which women returned to the home, focusing their attention to taking care of the children and waiting on their husband’s every need. This was perpetuated due to the increasing popularity of media’s involvement in the lives of housewives, such as the increasing sales of televisions and the increase in the number of sexist toys.
The lack of participation of women in society in the United States before the women's rights movement in 1948 was remarkable. They did not participate in activities such as voting and fighting in wars. They also could not own property and "belonged" to their father until they were married, when they would then become the property of their husband. They were brought up to get married, often while they were still very young, then to become a good mother and housewife. The lack of activity though changed during the American Revolution that lasted from 1775 to 1783. This American Revolutionary experience had a great impact on the eventual movement for women's rights.

Women and men are nestled into predetermined cultural molds when it comes to gender in American society. Women play the roles of mothers, housekeepers, and servants to their husbands and children, and men act as providers, protectors, and heads of the household. These gender roles stem from the many culture myths that exist pertaining to America, including those of the model family, education, liberty, and of gender. The majority of these myths are misconceptions, but linger because we, as Americans, do not analyze or question them. The misconception of gender suggests that biological truths no longer dictate our gender roles as men and women; they derive from cultural myths. We, as a nation, need to do severe critical thinking about this delusion of gender, how has limited us in the home, media, and education, how it currently limits us, and what the results of the current and future changes in gender roles will be.
Macbeth and The Crucible both portray strong female protagonists that have a lot of power over the other characters of the plays. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Arthur Miller’s The Crucible the female protagonists use equivocation, deception and fear to influence the minds of all the other characters in both plays. The influence of these women over especially the men leads the males into doing miserable, unforgettable and also unforgiveable deeds.
A women's role has changed tremendously and is making its greatest impact in our society today. Many years ago, women's contribution to society was limited and controlled by men. Women are standing tall and are playing a major role in many important areas. Women's role has changed at an accelerating rate and have part in areas such as Politics, Professional Training Jobs, Medicine,Business and Law. Formerly they were not part of any political matter, but they have advanced in many aspects. For example, women have attained power and have been growing in political office.
The role women play in today’s society is a drastic change from the previous role. Women used to be confined to the superiority of the man. Physically, mentally, and emotionally abused, belittled, embarrassed, and silenced. These are just a few examples of the emotion from the isolated treatment of the past. A woman’s role in today’s society is more valued than ever before.
