Art in this world would be completely different. Before the Renaissance all art was religious and based off of the perfect image of people. During the Renaissance paintings became more realistic and not so much religious. One of the most famous pieces of art is the mona lisa which was painted by Leonardo da vinci. Da vinci is also famous for many sculptures and being one of the first artist to paint something with no religious meaning. Without the Renaissance people today would probably be still painting only religious painting. (doc.A) There are many amazing must read books in this world today. During the Renaissance writing was drastically changed. One of the main reasons way littauer changed is because of the invention of the printing press. The printing press allowed greater quantities of books to be made and sold. This also allowed more people to learn to read and write. This Led to more books being written and produced then sold. The writings were more realistic during the Renaissance because of the major idea of humanism. Books were not so much based on the strict principles of religion.Without the Renaissance Most Books would still have some religious meaningin them.(doc.B) During the Middle Ages people believed the the universe had earth in the center of space and everything else revolved around it.
This was called, The Geocentric universe of ptolemy. During the Renaissance. people believed everything revolved around the sun. This was called, The Heliocentric universe of copernicus. As we know today this representation of the solar system is the most accurate. Although, this representation mad the church angry. This made them angry because more and more people were starting to realize that the church doesn't know everything they said they did. This caused the church to lose power. The Renaissance was just the beginning but, probably the most critical to the exploration of space. The new views on space led to more and more people wondering what actually out there which led to our knowledge of space today.(doc.C)
The Renaissance was one of the most crucial in the long road of humans evolving into who we are today.Today we know that things dont happen because god is punissing or rewording usfor our sins or grater divotions to the church. People are more practical and have knowledge of their greatest potential. Without the Renaissance people would never be as advanced in art, literature, and
astronomy.
The Renaissance period also changed through literature. This new change in literature was important because it taught people to read, write and with learning how to read and write gave people the needed components to do for themselves, different ways to think and use knowledge to better themselves.. Many more people got more chances to read and write instead of the select few. This gave people more opportunity at jobs, gave the servants a more chance for freedom.(Doc.b)
4. Renaissance humanism was an intellectual trend that came from interest in Greco-Roman literature. It changed theories and education because it secularized history--events were no longer blamed on God’s will.
Renaissance was very crucial as it brought about new perspectives and re- examination of the existing principles. It brought about desires of intellectuals to get the true meaning of Bible scriptures and the true role of the papal clergy. Among the intellectuals involved, Desderius Erasmus whose desire was to have reformation. He succeeded to translate the Bible, especially the New Testament to Greek then later to Latin. His translations proved very helpful to Luther. He is worth mentioning of the reformation and restoration of the church. He was of the idea that the Catholic Church should teach people doctrines that make them better Christians; he condemned the evil ways of the clergy which helped weaken papacy.
During the renaissance, there was a renewed interest in the arts, and the traditional views of society came into question. People began to explore the power of the human mind. A term often used to describe the increasing interest in the powers of the human mind is humanism. Generally, humanism stresses the individual's creative, reasoning, and aesthetic powers. However, during the Renaissance, individual ideas about humanism differed.
The Renaissance as a Time of Change The Renaissance was a time of social and economic change, feudalism was nearly abolished and money became a heavy commodity rather than loyalty and promises. The church became secularized and people put more emphasis on science and arts. Ideas and values enveloped the land. At this time the peasant population was around ninety percent of the overall population.
Humanism was the main idea of the Renaissance and was influential to people with its ideas. One of its main ideas was education and an importance to the classics, and that plays into the printing press for the reason that people could now learn to read and write more easily and a thirst for education was born. Any person could now learn and this opened a door way that had been locked for the middle class people because now they had the ability to learn and thrive with great minds just as much as the rich. This leads into Scientific Revolution, a major aspect of the “Modern Era” because people wanted to learn more about the world they live in and not just what the Church says, thus creating a curiosity in the people that wasn’t there before.
Italian Renaissance followed soon after the Middle Ages. It was the time of discovery and the revival of a new age—known as The Golden Age. The Renaissance witnessed the great discovery, exploration and inventions. This era was introduced by the birth of the philosophy of humanism, which highlighted the significance of individual accomplishment in a broad range of fields. However, it also had a dark side full of corruption, greed and scandal.
The Renaissance time period took place during the 14th and the 16th centuries it began in Europe. The Renaissance was a time of art, open ideas, and new beginnings. Before this time there was the Middle Ages. Then it was not a good time at all, it was full of sickness, disease, death, and the plague it killed almost half of Europe’s population. After the plague slowly decreased the population in Europe started to grow. Lots of new things started to happen. Like Bankers Merchants, and Tradespeople had a new market for their services. People became wealthier and had more money to spend. People began to build much bigger houses and buy more expensive clothes and people became more interested in the art and liturature. People began to learn foreign languages, they read more, played instruments, and finding more that interested them.
As previously stated, the renaissance was the rebirth of society. What led to this was a decrease in faith because of the great schism, a conflict between two popes, where both said they were the pope. People were starting to take a secular view compared to what the church told them to believe. Society was changing to where individual viewpoints mattered. With politics starting to matter, and a better economy, places were beginning to be city centered, specifically city states, which are urban societies that have taken secular views.
The Renaissance, also known as the Middle Ages, is very historic because of the wealth and power that it held. Through economic and political aspects, it flourished into the ripe environment that it is known of today. Although the culture
A central focus of the Renaissance was humanism. Humanism was an intellectual movement that claimed the heart of the Renaissance. Humanists studied the classical cultures of Greece and Rome. They used their newly acquired knowledge to develop a better understand of their own times. Humanists, although they were mostly Christian, did not focus of religion. Instead they were fixated on worldly subjects. It was believed that education should stimulate one’s creative mind. Humanists emphasized humanities, which are classic subjects such as grammar and poetry.
The Renaissance was the age of the merchants and because of the merchants the economies and culture rose. The Renaissance is remembered by many people for the works of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and Raphael. What many people do not know about the Renaissance is that the textile industry was more famous and profitable than the painter industry. Florence was the place to get any of your goods because of its location. Merchants went to Florence to sell their unique goods, buy, sell, or make cloth, and attend the guilds.
The Renaissance was a time of change. It began in Italy during the 14th century, and spread throughout the North. People all over Europe were affected, for the better and for the worse. Some people finally had a chance to control their own fate. Others, like upper class women, lost their social status. The values and purposes of Renaissance education were to improve the society, increase the economy, and restore the religious beliefs.
The Renaissance period started in Italy and took place between the 1400’s and the 1600’s. In French, the term Renaissance means rebirth, which is an accurate way to describe that period since it was then that many people chose to break away from the stagnation, incertitude, and extreme hardships that occurred during the Middle Ages and plagued most of Europe. The Renaissance period is noted for being a time when the population sought educational reform which increased literacy and many were able to master more than one skill set. This led to an intellectual, economic, and artistic revolution that transformed several European nations such as Italy, France, Spain, and several others. During this time, there were several developments within the Catholic Church, such as scandals and controversy. Because of that, many people were driven away from the traditions of the church and sought more freedom of expression and individualism. As economies improved, there was more wealth and a desire for self improvement which greatly influenced the arts.
The Renaissance is a term that means rebirth. The renaissance marked a renewed interest in many things such as the arts but also brought about change in the areas of class structure; trade; invention and science. These changes have influenced nearly every social class and industrialized society in the modern world. This paper will show how this unique period in our history impacts our society today.
