The book Animal Farm was written by George Orwell. The story takes place on a farm where the animals are not properly cared for by the farmer and the workers on the farm. The animals later took over the farm and life was good until the pigs started behaving like humans and took over the farm again. The pigs treated the animals worse than the way the farmers and his workers treated the animals. In Animal Farm there is an obvious evolution of a democracy society to a dictatorship society. First the animals were all treated equally, secondly the pigs became the leaders, and finally the pigs have taken over the farm making the other animals slaves.

In Orwell's Animal Farm, the animals revolt against the cruel human leaders and set up a better method of farm management where all animals are equal. As time passes, the new leaders become greedy and corrupt, and the other animals realize conditions are just as miserable as before. There is a major connection between Animal Farm and Russian communism. The pigs are one of the most significant of these connections, representing the communist rulers of Russia, like Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky. Their traits, personalities, and actions are similar to the actual men in power. In the novel Animal Farm, the pigs represent the communist leaders of Russia in the early 1900s.
The novel I choose to read for this assignment was Animal Farm; by George Orwell. This novel discusses how things like greed, wealth, corrupt leaders, and shortsightedness can destroy any chance of a Utopia. These qualities are shown mostly through the pigs, as they start to take control they lose sight of the original 7 seven commandants upon which Animalism was created. As the pigs become more powerful the other animals slowly start becoming less aware of what is really taking place. The pigs are were pretty much destroying whatever shred of animalistic society they had left and replacing it with a cold hard dictatorship in which all the beliefs that made animalism were changed to the pigs advantage. And as animal farm slowly spirals downward, it is the working class animals (particularly Boxer and Clover) that suffer and soon enough become viewed as the protagonists of the novel. This is mainly because they are the animals that we can sympathize with the most, as they become helpless against Napoleon’s murderous followers. But in contrast we see Napoleon and the other pigs as the antagonists of the book, because as the story progresses you see them becoming more like the tyrannical humans they had at a time overthrown. However, they did not start out like this during the revolution, only after they had taken a position of power, were they corrupted by their thirst for more power. The main characters are: Napoleon, the pig who is recognized as the leader of animal farm, he is extremely crafty, vindictive, dictating, and proves himself to be more perfidious then his comrades. Snowball, is an intelligent, passionate pig that constantly fights Napoleon for power. He is very fanatical about the cause of Animalism and only wishes to ...
This story Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel about an animal revolution over an oppressive farmer. The irony in the story comes when the pigs turn into the very thing revolted against. They exhibit the same cruelty by treating the other animals the same or even worse than previous owners. This cycle of cruelty is shown in the Russian revolution by Joseph Stalin who is represented by Napoleon in the story. Cruelty in animal farm is shown by the human’s treatment of the animals, and the animal’s eventual treatment of each other and the ironic characteristics of the two.
The novel “Animal Farm” was written by the author name George Orwell. Animal Farm is a novel based upon the lives of a society of animals wanting a better life for themselves living on the Manor Farm. The setting of the book is a farm called “Manor Farm”. The theme of this book is that the animals should make a stand; if they continue doing the same thing they will continue getting the same results. It is better to be free and starving, than to be fed and enslaved.
About 80 per-cent of all the animals on Animal Farm completely followed the seven commandments. The other 20 per-cent of the animals would rarely follow all the rules and they were often treated like a piece of dirt. All the animals on Animal Farm were treated differently according to their social status, where in today’s society everyone should treat everyone equally. The characters in Animal Farm had many diverse characteristics, some of the animals were powerful, stupid, and sneaky.
when a new rule that involved more work was ratified. Then the pigs simply acted
Animal Farm is not only a novel about rebellious animals; it is a study of the corruption of society and humanity in an enclosed environment. The actions of the anthropomorphic animals that now rule Manor Farm represent the human society as a whole. Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel which contains syntax that exemplifies power and hierarchies and diction that portrays character’s will and intention.
"Animal Farm" by George Orwell is a novel based on the lives of a society of animals living on Animal Farm. Although the title of the book suggests the book is merely about animals, the story is a much more in depth analysis of the human nature and behavior. The animals are used as puppets to illustrate how humans operate, how propaganda was used by early powerful leaders such as Stalin, and the effect this type of leadership had on the behavior of the people. Before reading this fable, I was in many views antagonistic with Orwell’s beliefs of human nature.
can see this whilst he is still on the farm, as he is always doing
George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a political satire of a totalitarian society ruled by a mighty dictatorship, in all probability a fable for the events surrounding the Russian Revolution of 1917. The animals of “Manor Farm” overthrow their human master after a long history of mistreatment. Led by the pigs, the farm animals continue to do their work, only with more pride, knowing that they are working for themselves, as opposed to working for humans. Little by little, the pigs become dominant, gaining more power and advantage over the other animals, so much so that they become as corrupt and power-hungry as their predecessors, the humans.
characteristics whatsoever. The seven commandments under which they live are based on these major principles. As soon as they develop a whole new system, they throw out all of the humans that run the farm. Even though they are supposed to be equal, the
Animal Farm, A novella by George Orwell, tells the tale of the downtrodden animals of Manor Farm, who after much oppression from their master, take over the farm for themselves. In the beginning it seems like the start of a life of freedom and plenty, but ruthless and cunning elite emerges and begins to take control of the farm. The animals find themselves ensnared once again as one form of tyranny gradually replaces the other. The novella is a critique of revolutionary Russia and idealism betrayed by power and corruption. Orwell uses allegory between Animal Farm and the Soviet Union to highlight the corruption of socialist ideals in the soviet union, the power of language and propaganda, and the dangers of a naive working class.
Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novella that tells a story of a society of animals, who dream of a farm free of humans. The animals plan the Rebellion, the day when they will take over the Manor Farm. Shortly after the Rebellion, the animals set up a list of commandments, explaining that all animals are equal, that humans are the enemies, and that all animals are equal. The pigs take the job of supervisors, but as they continue to spread their influence and expand their power, one, Napoleon, takes control. Napoleon’s rise to power in Animal Farm teaches the animals that not all good ideas end in good results.
Throughout the course of the novel the lives of everyone – human and animal – on Animal Farm change dramatically. In the case of the pigs their lives get better and better but for all the other animals and the humans their lives take a turn for the worse, after a brief period of optimism for the animals. This change in lifestyle, perhaps suggests Orwell’s thoughts and feelings about communism as he uses all of the events allegorically with the Russian revolution, for example when Snowball is chased out by Napoleon represents in history when Josef Stalin had Leon Trotsky exiled from Russia. Another example is in the card game at the end of the novel when Napoleon, representing Josef Stalin and Russia, and Mr. Pilkington, representing President Truman of America, both play the ace of spades, which represents nuclear weapons, which is historically the beginning of the Cold War.
What George Orwell said in the book 1984 has a correlating textual essence of what he wrote in the story Animal Farm. Not only does George Orwell show his presumption of the negative effects of a communist state, but he also provides multiple themes that exploit the hardships and tyranny that is presented in a communist system due to megalomaniacs fulfillment of power. Animal Farm is also known to be an allegory that shows the true meaning behind the Russian Revolution, and how leaders manipulated people’s minds in order to abuse their power and serve for their own interests. In animal farm there are many symbolic characters that are represented by their role in the Russian Revolution. These characters include Mr. Jones who represents Czar
