Following the London Olympics, The Australian Sports Commission set up the Winning Edge program and put more than $300 million into elite sport. (Mark, D 2016) Winning Edge, a 10-year program to restore Australia top-five status in the table at the Olympic. It was implemented after Australia’s eight place in the London Olympics, which involves handing sports money and letting them decide what to do with it. When the federal government cut its funding, in order to provide more funding to these historically successful sports, such as swimming, rowing, cycling, and sailing, ASC stripped more than $25m out of the high-performance arm the AIS and the bureaucracy of the ASC. That funding cut to the AIS which once had its own coaches, sports science
The controversy in Berlin Olympic Games was that the some of the Jews excluded from the Olympic team were actually world class athletes. The athletes left Germany, along with other Jewish athletes, to resume their sports careers abroad. The Nazis also disqualified Gypsies. The Olympics were intended to be an exercise in goodwill among all nations emphasizing racial equality in the area of sports competition. But the Nazis thought that only the Aryans should participate in the Olympics games to represent Germany. Then after that controversy then the committee of the Games wanted to move the Olympic Games to another country. This was because usually the U.S. got the most medals because they sent the most athletes.
There have been many unanswered questions in Australia about Aboriginal history. One of these is which government policy towards indigenous people has had the largest impact on Indigenous Australians? Through research the Assimilation Policy had the largest impact upon Indigenous Australians and the three supporting arguments to prove this are the Aborigines losing their rights to freedom, Aboriginal children being removed from their families, and finally the loss of aboriginality.
Since 776 BCE, the Olympics have been a way for people of different cultures to come together and compete in friendly competition. In 1892 the first modern Olympics were held in Athens, although it had been over a thousand years since the last game it still had brought together an assortment of different religions and ethnic groups together. Many factors shaping the Olympic Games reflect the changes that have taken place in our world since the last game in 393 CE in Greece such changes include woman’s suffrage, global economy, world wars, and proving competency.

The Reasons Behind the Increasing Commercialism of the Olympic Games The Olympic Games is a world wide event, held once every 4 years. It is the most important event amongst the elite athletes of today. It is viewed on television by billions of people across the world, by satellite transmission (started in Tokyo in 1964). This worldwide viewing attracted sponsors as they realised that by supporting the Olympics their product would be advertised on every product sold, as they would be the 'official sponsor'. The advances in technology has played a fundamental role in the increase in commercialism, as large sums of money are put forwards for television rights over the Games from companies such as Sky, the BBC and ABC.

The “friendly Games” as they were referred to, the 1956 Melbourne Olympics was the event that made Melbourne the sporting capital of Australia. They were the first country to hold an Olympics outside Europe or Northern America and this was the way they were going to prove they were capable of holding the name of the sporting capital of Australia.
This essay will discuss and critically analyse the different types of development structures and nature between Rugby League and ice hockey as recognised sports of Australia. Australia has, with its old and inherent football-culture of Rugby League/Union and Aussie Rules, been predominately focused on the domestic development and international competition while aiming at recognition of these sports. AIS has together with the majority of the Australian communities recognised Ice hockey as being a major-minor sport, which has made the possibilities of developing high-standard practises, mass-participation and national success a struggle for the involved compared to the football codes. This essay will therefore discuss the differences of how Australia choses to cope with the development between a major sport as ruby league, and a minor sport as ice hockey, and to establish development recommendations for the future of both sports.
The Olympic Games plays a significant role in the world. The relationship between it and host countries is important to investigate for comprehending cultural studies. According to Xu and Kirby (2008), the Olympic Games has a considerable impact on the expression of national identity. For example, London applied this approach to promote its national identity. This can be discovered from the BBC video called James Bond escorts The Queen to the opening ceremony in 2012 (2012): an amiable identity is perceived by the audience through presenting corgi at Buckingham Palace. Moreover, China is no exception. There is an image about the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympics, it shows a spectacular drumming performance. In addition, an article about

Businesses in New South Wales won A$1bn worth of contracts from the Sydney games and an additional A$300mn was generated by local business. Over 55,000 people received employment related training. If London hosted the Olympic games, thousands of UK firms could be involved in supplying everything from construction to manufacturing, catering to merchandise.
The Olympic Games bring worldwide attention to the nation and city hosting the games, while being a major opportunity for revenue, these events come at a hefty cost to the host nation. The Olympic Games offer a host of social aspects to be discussed. The International Olympic Committee, or IOC, cracked down on gender discrimination for the London games in 2012, which marked the first time all countries competing had at least one woman (Rosewater, 2012). The IOC has been breaking gender and racial ideologies to give everyone a fair chance to compete. This problem was solved by threatening to ban countries that would not allow women to compete. Rio de Janeiro just hosted the most recent Olympic Games which came to a close last week. The Rio games struggled financially due to Brazil’s political and economic woes, but despite the finances, the games gave everyone something to talk about. The Rio games also exhibited ablest ideologies when funds allocated to the Paralympic Games were taken to fund the regular Olympic Games, leaving countries scrambling to find ways to get their athletes to Rio (Associated Press, 2016). This raises the question of why were the able-bodied athletes more deserving of these funds than the disabled athletes. The problem arises because of our current mentality and how we view disabled people in general. We tend to view them as lesser than us simply because they are

1.It would be preferable to hold the Olympics rather than the Commonwealth Games for the following reason: the Olympics is a much bigger event than the Commonwealth Games, 88 countries participate in the Olympic Games as opposed to the 53 in the Commonwealth Games. The Olympic Games, being a global event, unifies a country and brings people together from all over the world on a much larger scale than the Commonwealth Games.Furthermore the Olympic Games is more prestigious than the Commonwealth Games as there is a huge following. The host of the Olympic team is able to add one sport and this would allow South Africa to focus on sport development as opposed to the Commonwealth Games where one has no say in the sports that are played. As a result
The Olympic Games originated from Ancient Greece as many as 3,000 years ago. The games started as a way of honoring Zeus, the God of the sky and ruler of the Olympian gods. The first written records of the ancient Olympics date back to 776 B.C. when a cook named Coroebus won the only event called the Stade, a 192 meter race on foot. This made Coroebus the first Olympic champion. Although, many people believe the Olympics went on for many years before. From the 8th century B.C. to the 4th century A.D. The games were held every four years in Olympia. It was always held between August 6 and September 19 during a religious festival honoring Zeus. An ancient legend has it that Alcmene, the mortal woman and Hercules, son of Zeus, originally
