Romeo and Juliet has a huge impact on culture today, and definitely a lot more than I realized. So many movies and songs that I have seen or heard of have been based on or just like Romeo and Juliet. While doing research for this and making these connections was crazy. One of the first things that came to mind was Taylor Swift's song Love story. I already knew this one was based on Romeo and Juliet because she says their names in the song, but I never realized how much like the actual story it was. Looking back at the lyrics of this song amazed me how many connections there were to the actual play. Swift continues on with references but by the end of the song she comes up with a different ending. Instead of Romeo and Juliet dying she decided to make them have a happy ending and had them get married. This I noticed with a lot of my examples that pieces of the articles have the same idea as Romeo and Juliet but the ending is usually a lot different. There are three movies that came to mind when comparing them to Romeo and Juliet, Warm Bodies, A walk to remember, and The Notebook. Warm bodies being the most recent of the three really surprised me on how closely related it was to Romeo and Juliet. It surprised me because Warm Bodies is about zombies and humans, not at all what I have in mind when I think of a love story. Although in this movie they managed to do that. R the zombie falls for Julie the human, already you can see The similarities to Romeo and Juliet. Their love is forbidden because on is dead and one is alive. In the end they end up overcoming the obstacles along the way and make their love acceptable in their society. This like Taylor Swifts song having a happy ending. The next movie, A walk to Remember, has a more depressing ending but still seems to be better than the outcome of Romeo and
