Love in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet
"Romeo and Juliet" is a love tragedy based on different kinds of
loves. Romeo and Juliet become married in a forbidden relationship
over the high tension brawl between their rival families which
Shakespeare clearly shows in the play. Despite the family brawls, the
pair decides to let their "perfect" love defeat all. Peoples ideas
have changed in the space of 400 years, for example back then some
loves featured in this play would produce different reactions to the
audience, than today.
Shakespeare opens the play with the chorus who speaks a sonnet, where
love imagery is found;
"Two Star-crossed lovers"
=========================
This hints the couple feeling stuck and desperate to be free to love
one another. The stars in this quote means their love is bound to
happen, the forbidden bit is in the darkness, as stars are covered by
darkness meaning the two lovers are as well, but as stars shine in the
dark night this proves their love is everlasting in spite of the hard
situation.
In Act 1, scene 1 straight away we are involved in the fight scenes
followed by the violent action which would have entertained the
Shakespeare's audience 400 years ago.
In the first scene fighting is going on and rude comments are being
passed out between the two families.
Some other quotes showing how much the two families hate one another,
which could lead even to risking their own lives just to show how
brave they were. We also know that the two families liked winding each
other up which would lead up more fights therefore some more
entertainment for the Shakespeare audience.

still alive and what's been going on, Juliet does this to save herself
and to be with her husband Romeo, after death.
"Yeah, noise? Then I'll be brief. O happy dagger,
This is thy sheath; there rust and let me die."
Love triumphs in the end because the two families are united. So
although Romeo and Juliet have to die, love wins in the end-in a
strange way. The Capulet and Montague's learn to re-unite because of
the tragic death that the fight brought. Both County Paris and Romeo
die because of Juliet and she kills herself because Romeo is dead,
they erect a statue for them and mourn.
"Go hence to have more talk of these sad things,
Some shall be pardoned, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo"
' Here's much to do with hate, but more with love.' Act 1 scene 1.
In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the views of love held by the character Romeo contrast sharply with the views of Mercutio. Romeo's character seems to suffer from a type of manic depression. He is in love with his sadness, quickly enraptured and easily crushed again on a passionate roller coaster of emotion. Mercutio, by contrast is much more practical and level headed. His perceptions are clear and quick, characterized by precise thought and careful evaluation. Romeo, true to his character begins his appearance in the play by wallowing in his depression over Rosaline who does not return his love:
In the course of the play, Romeo and Juliet immediately fall in love. Also, they know they are meant for each other and therefore decide to get married. After this marriage, there was a brief moment in time where everything was perfect. They are married, in love and there is nothing stopping them from being together. This however quickly changes after a fight that leads to death. Once Romeo is banished from Verona for the penalty of murder, love grows tremendously between the couple and drives the need to be together. The marriage between Romeo and Juliet is hidden from their parents, so Montague decides to arrange a marriage between her and Paris. With all the conflict arising between Juliet’s family, Friar Lawrence creates a plan that unfortunately does not succeed. His plan for Juliet is to tell her father she will marry Paris then go to bed with no one, not even the nurse. After, she will drink a potion to make her seem dead for forty two hours and then have a messenger tell Romeo about it. He will have her put in a vault to wait for Friar to bring her out so she and Romeo can elope. The plan was perfect until tragedy occurs, Benvolio had seen Juliet dead and immediately tells Romeo about it. The result is Romeo and Juliet murdering themselves and the play had a tragic ending. Overall, young, innocent lovers die, through no fault of their own but a simple mistake. “How oft when men are at the

Romeo and Juliet is a play that explains the strong love between two teenagers that soon results in their demise. This play is categorized as one of Shakespeare’s tragedy plays. Yet, many people prefer categorize this play as a romance or play about love. What does this really mean you might be asking. I think that a play about love means that this play is attempting to explain what love is and why it makes people do the things they do. I believe this because throughout the first act it discusses Romeo’s past love and how it affected him. It also describes the love that begins to develop between Romeo and Juliet just through a single conversation and a kiss. However, there are many different views on love throughout just the first act.
Romeo and Juliet is a romantic love story about a young lad named Romeo who has fallen in love with Lady Juliet, but is unable to marry her because of a long-lasting family feud. The play ends in the death of both these characters and the reunion of the friendship between the families. Romeo is in love with Juliet, and this is a true, passionate love (unlike the love Paris has for her or the love Romeo had for Rosaline) that nothing can overcome, not even the hatred between their two families that is the reason for the death of their two children. Throughout the play, Shakespeare thoroughly explores the themes of both true love and false love and hatred. Without either of these themes, the play would loose its romantic touch and probably would not be as famous as it is today.
the play is not solely about love but also a lot of hatred is involved
William Shakespeare has provided some of the most brilliant plays to ever be performed on the stage. He is also the author of numerous sonnets and poems, but he is best known for his plays such as Hamlet, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Romeo and Juliet. In this essay I would like to discuss the play and movie, "Romeo and Juliet", and also the movie, Shakespeare in Love. The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is set in the fictional city of Verona. Within the city lives two families, the Capulets and the Montegues, who have been feuding for generations.
True love is a controversial topic of interest. Many say true love exists, others say that true love is baloney. True love is presented as a love that triumphs over all else. However true love cannot be more powerful than the love of family.
