How Did Martin Luther Affect Society

Martin Luther was born in Germany in 1483. His parents where peasants and his father worked as an miner. Martins father wanted a better life for his son, he wanted him to become a lawyer. He wanted him to be influential. Martin was one of the most influential figures in Christian history. He began the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. He affected his society in many ways and changes the history of religion forever.

Martin Luther got people to think outside of the box. He got them to think for themselves and to quit listening to others. Martin got people to quit letting the church tell them what to do. Without Marin Luther we would most likely be all Catholic today. He sparked the Reformation of the way people viewed religion. Without him we might not have the freedom of religion we have today. We might not be able to worship God as we choose to. Without him America might not have been settled by the Puritian Pilgrims. These are some of the things that people did to change their lives and change their ways. Monks, nuns, and priest left the church to get married. People began helping the poor by developing a welfare system to help them. They began creating schools for children to learn. People began to talk to God and have a direct relationship with him. They realized that they didn’t need someone to pray for them. People during this time thought they could ask for forgiveness on their own and the only two sacraments they needed were Holy Communion and Baptism. People before Martin Luther used to pay priest to pray for them and to get their family in to heaven.
