What started out as an internal reform of Church’s discipline, turned into a war against the Roman Church for their total destruction. This was the intent of Luther’s sermon of 1521.
The Reformation was the 16th-century religious, political, intellectual and cultural upheaval that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the structures and beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era. It was important because it divided the continent between catholics and protestants. New ideas were introduced and was the subject of tension between catholics and protestant for the next centuries. On Oct. 31, 1517, Martin Luther posted on the door of the castle church at Wittenberg his 95 theses, inviting debate on matters of practice and doctrine. Luther's action was not as yet a revolt against the church but a movement for reform within. It was, however, much more than an objection to the money-grabbing and secular policies of the
The Reformation was a really important era in history and it came right after the Renaissance. The Renaissance was seen as a period where it was a time of religion, and art flourished. The Renaissance and the Reformation can be compared and contrasted because the Renaissance was a time of rebirth, and so was the Reformation, however the rebirth brought forth different ideas. Since during the Renaissance there was such a bond between religion and government it triggered the rebellion of many people within the countries. During the Renaissance when questions were raised that went against what the Church thought, The Catholic church pushed the idea that salvation could only be found in the church. However, a Christian monk from Eisleben in the Holy Roman Empire(Martin Luther, CCEL) named Martin Luther interpreted a bible passage stating "just shall live by his faith" to mean that faith alone would save their souls he began to challenge the church. This started the Reformation.
The reformation was when the catholic believers started straying from the church in Europe during the late 1400's and early 1500’s. People started forming and joining other religions that were close to their beliefs.

Martin Luther was a professor of biblical theology who had several issues with the Catholic Church. His complaints or disputes with the Catholic Church are known as his 95 Theses. By the 16th century the Catholic church sought reform from within itself because between the 14th and 16th centuries the church was faced with a significant decline in authority. ...ning of one small but powerful man, Martin Luther. Luther was a holy person himself and he began noticing the corruption in the Church. He tolerated everything till the last straw in which he saw a priest, Johann Tetzel selling indulgences. Tetzel said that for a certain amount of money, he said that he would assure their entry to heavens and as well as their dead relatives as well. This final outrage lead Luther into writing his 95 theses about indulgences. This would lead to the questioning of the Church and soon it would lead to the exposure of the Church throughout Europe by one powerful weapon that Luther had. And that was the printing press. Within a few nights, all of europe came to know the truth about the Church and many people were happy that finally, someone had told everyone about how the Church really was. Many changes occurred during this period.
He encouraged a truer faith and interpretation of the bible. He also specifically referenced parts of the Scriptures that showed nobles were doing wrong according to the word of God. An example of this is Martin Luther saying that God suffers so that crops can grow and by restricting the usage of crops it is ungodly and not loving thy neighbor (Twelve Articles of German Peasants). Another is that the sale of indulgences isn’t included anywhere in Scriptures, yet the clergy began selling them which was an obvious sign of corruption in the church (95 theses). Luther’s ideas promoted equality within the social order and were seen as valid because they had backing from Christian Scriptures.
The Protestant Reformation was a religious movement introduced by Martin Luther in the early 1500s in effort to end the corruption of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church, during the Renaissance period, was vigorously corrupt that even Popes were guilty of being illiterate. The reason why Martin Luther introduced this movement was because he was not incredibly fond of what his fellow officials enacted. Especially since the Pope is the head of the Church, he addresses the Pope publicly regarding the corruption happening and this leads to the start of the Protestant Reformation. The teachings of Protestant Churches were the same as any Catholic Church, but they were given more freedom and salvation.
