In past history, women have been looked down upon and been treated with disrespect by society. Men were seen as superior to women and had more rights such as voting. A woman by the name of Margaret Fuller, was a very important part of changing women's lives in society. Margaret Fuller was a very strong woman. She was a well known feminist who urged women to develop their talents. She wanted equal partnership for men and women, and dreamed that one day everything that was open for men would also be open for women to do. Margaret Fuller, with her persistent and unyielding personality was able to change the lives for women in society forever. Margaret Fuller’s full name is, Sarah Margaret Fuller. At age 9, she dropped the name Sarah, and went by the name Margaret. She was very persuasive, able to convince her father to shorten her name. …show more content…

Margaret Fuller’s father’s influence is one of the main reasons Fuller developed into the person she was. As a child, she attended Miss Prescott’s Academy in Groton, Massachusetts. Fuller was very smart; one of the top in her class. She enjoyed reciting poetry, performing scenes from Shakespeare's plays, talking, and funny skits. She also had a very humorous personality. She was a very bright and outgoing student in and out of the classroom. Girl’s at Margaret Fuller’s school were very jealous of her, so they played a practical joke on her. This joke caused Fuller to have an epileptic seizure triggered by emotional shock. Carolyn Feleppa Balducci wrote a biography on Margaret Fuller titled, Margaret Fuller: A Life of Passion and Defiance. The biography speaks of this prank. Balducci talks about how Fuller had decided to behave herself more after she recovered, realizing that all the girls at school were against her (3).
