After reading The Goal, I would like to apply these concepts to the hospitality industry, Hotel. I got a chance to have an interview with a former room attendant in Howard Hotels, a five-star hotel in Taiwan. Although the room attendant’s duty is quite simple, I find the way to apply the ideas from the book to their work.
In housekeeping, the room attendants have very limited time to finish their work because hotel guests usually check-out from 9AM to 12 PM and new customers will check in from 3PM to 5PM. Their duty is to clean and to tidy the rooms and to replenish guestroom and bath supplies within the time period. Like rush orders in the factory, room attendants have got their work done in the due time, otherwise they are failing to deliver the product to customers. Every room attendant has to clear 12-14 rooms depending on the work orders dispensing every morning, and two attendants work as a team to finish their duty. One room attendant is responsible for bathroom cleaning, which is heavy duty, and another one is to clean and tidy room. They have to work independently for maxi...
Revenge is the opportunity to retaliate or gain satisfaction for a real or perceived slight ("revenge"). In “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe, Montresor, the narrator, is out for revenge. Montressor seeks revenge against Fortunato and thinks he has developed the perfect plan for “revenge with impunity” (Baym). Montresor never tells the reader why he feels Fortunato deserves punishment. He only says that Fortunato causes him “a thousand injuries”until “[venturing] upon insult” (Baym ?). As a result, Montresor plans to bury Fortunato alive.
In conclusion, Hotel 373 maintains a fairly good balance between the ‘cooperation’ and the ‘family’. It is important to keep this balance in the future so that employees can work in a good environment while having high professional standards on themselves.

You arrive to work by seven and you’re only given an hour and thirty minutes to make sure the needs of over fifteen people are met. How do you decide who receives a bath before breakfast and who has to wait? Are you being neglectful for deciding one over another? Due to the economic downfall and the increased demands of works needed in medical field, many medical facilities have cut their staffing to balance cost in budgets. Patients can no longer be given full care because of the lack staffing. This has made many people change their minds about becoming nurses. Job openings are posted daily for nurses due to many quitting because of the burnout from over working. In order for the work load to be better for the nursing staff a law must be put in place that requires that nurses will not receive a high number of patients to be all cared for at one time.
In the novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford, allusions are tied into the story to make the book seem more realistic. These allusion allow the story to seem more alive and realistic First and foremost, the Panama Hotel is a dominant allusion and part of the setting in the story. This hotel portrays a significant landmark in the city of Seattle that divides Chinatown from Japantown. "The old bachelor hotel had stood as a gateway between Seattle's Chinatown and Nihonmachi, Japantown" (3). The basement of the hotel was used as a storage for Japanese families to place their belongings in before being taken away. Henry, the main character, visits this hotel multiple times in search of Keiko's belongings. Though the hotel does not present a huge role in the novel, it accords the reader with an image that they can relate to real life.
Lindsay Alanson is a 15-year experienced professional that has moved up the hospitality ranks through her hard work and effective management style. One of the best programs developed by Lindsay in the past has been an initiative to increase motivation for the lower paid employees. Lindsay has now been recruited by Grand Chancellor Resort to take on the challenge of lowering the employees’ 20% retention rate as the quick turnover of employees is costing the resort an excess amount of money. Not only would the resort like to cut the cost of the hiring process but also maintain the reputation of best places to work as they were finalist in the best places to work awards in 2006.

The reason I chose the Hotel Management industry is because it is a career path that I have always been interested in and curious about. It is a fast growing widespread global industry. I’ve always wanted an exciting career, which would integrate my business and creative skills in a way, which would be more energetic, active and fun than most orthodox and boring office desk jobs. I also desired to work in an industry, which I was fervent about. For my first year Applied study period I had the opportunity to work at The Taj hotels, resorts and palaces, India and my experience there established many of my principles of how the hotel industry operated. Despite my refining on the job experience, that allowed me to explore the various departments and requirements of the everyday job, I had never elaborately researched the prospects of working and skills and requirements required in the Hotel Management industry; and this Is exactly what I aim to accomplish with this report.
