Homer Yannos was a reckless immature joker before the invasion. He was always acting out and getting into trouble at school, and with the law. But he was always a lovable person. Homer doesn't listen to his parents , he doesn't ask to go out he just says that he is going out. This is shown by “ Ellie and I are going bush for a few days , he announced. That was homers way of asking for permission.” ( Homer , PG #8) ] This quote shows that Homer doesn't ask when and what he can do he just says that he is going , so he doesn’t follow his parents instructions. Homers actions before the war were very childish and immature because he didn't need to think about anything bad happening to him , all the other people in the group knew Homer was silly and never took anythings serious so they never asked him to do anything because he would do it wrong or make a joke about it , his actions also caused him to get in trouble because he didn't think before he acts. Homer seemed to the one in the …show more content…

...eople and customs that Odysseus expects to return home to, and Homer is only using Kalypso’s fake family and home to foreshadow this.
Homer was a very influential and significant part of the Greek civilization. The Greeks had been passing down stories, by word, of the Golden Age and of the great battles of the Greeks for many years. Homer ...
The World of Homer is home to many ideals and values, primely, the idea of the Hero and what makes one a Hero. A Hero of Homeric society places personal honor above all else, including one’s home, kin, and life itself. The Hero’s reputation meant everything, and if he was insulted or had his honor called into question, he would defend it to his death. Moreover, The Hero amassed glory though the most honorable act of Homer’s World, which was battle. Engaging in combat and putting one’s life on the line was not only considered a duty, but was the only possible way to bring about such great glory and fame that one could achieve a form of immortality. Additionally, The Homeric Hero’s honor code held the notion of respect and justice very high,
deceitful and Homer is a sexist who holds a double standard of morality for men
And that is the brilliance of Homer. He takes The Odyssey told in his day as an oral tradition and turns it into a masterful book that has meaning even into today. Homer believes that we should all be kind to our fellow man. In ancient Greece, that means being hospitable to whoever steps into your domain. Anyone who will show hospitality: Telemachus, Nestor, Menelaus, and Alcinous, is revered as a good man worthy of respect and honor, but those that cannot or will not respect xenos are subject to the vengeance that they receive: Aegisthus, Polyphemus, the Laestrygonians, and Circes. Homer wants us all to be hospitable in our lives and he uses Telemachus’ and Odysseus’ journeys in The Odyssey to show us this.
· His brain has the cutting edge of all the doughnuts he eats. · Homer's children think he is an unfit father. · Homer is bald, fat and has a triple heart bypass because of the doughnuts, pizza, burgers and beer he endlessly consumes. · He often tries to strangle his son, ignores his younger daughter
Wilbur and Homer’s relationship. I found it a bit strange that Wilbur started forcing Homer to stand and help during births and abortions at such a young age. How he essentially decided Homers life for him and isolated him from the world. The pitfall of critical thinking I am guilty of is Biased Consideration of Evidence. This is when a person only looks for evidence to back up their bias (Ruggiero 115). Early on in the movie I already decided I did not like their relationship and only looked for more evidenced that backed up my belief. After thinking back and reanalyzing some of what happened in the movie, I can see that their relationship was not all bad. Clearly Dr. Wilbur loved Homer like a son and wanted what was best for him. Even if he might have gone about it in the wrong way, he still had good intentions at
Homer Jay Simpson, the patriarch of the Simpson household on the Fox series “The Simpsons” is a childish, lazy man, whose hobbies include eating donuts, drinking Duff Beer, watching television, and sleeping. A victim of the “Simpsons gene” which allows for only Simpson women to possess the trait of intelligence, Homer is unfortunately as “dumb as a chimp” according to his father, Abe Simpson. However, it is mainly through the analysis of his simplistic thoughts and nature, that one can gain a real perspective on Homer’s complex personality.
...lot to be desired. The Roman individual interest and desire to be great takes a little away from the story. In fact it may have been one of the reasons for their down fall. I like the Greeks view a little better. Homer wasn’t writing this for himself or for anyone else. He wanted to do it for the people. He wanted to show people what was valuable about tradition and how in looking at tradition important values were demonstrated. This paper has lead me to believe this and might do so to others. I can see where both ideas have their place, but one makes for a better story , and the other makes for a valuable historical tool.
In conclusion, the authors believe that nihilism, or the lack of grounding in decision making, is rampant in modern times. They believe that humans need to strive for something outside themselves to truly enjoy life. In the times of Homer, the Greeks strived to be in tune with the Gods. The authors believe that this religion largely prevented nihilism in this population, but it is important to note that they do not point at the specific religion itself. Instead, they point at the outward striving. Either way, the moral of this story is to believe in something rather than nothing at all.
...den tone, and despite all the fame and greatness Hektor has acquired, all is lost in Troy, as a result of his death. Homer must be portraying an anti-war attitude here, otherwise he would surely end the play with the triumph of Achilleus, or the victory of the Argives over Troy. If he had positive or even neutral thoughts about war, he would end with and upbeat triumph, but he does not. The final book makes the Iliad out to be a tragedy, which is exactly what Homer thought war was, an unnecessary tragedy. The point that Homer wants to get across with his final book is that all the action and all the fighting that went on for all those years is not something to be proud of, for it ruined multitudes of lives. The extreme agony and woe only help to show that Homer believes that the positives of war could never encompass all the sorrow and negative consequences of war.
Homer is said to have been blind and told his stories orally. Because the facts of Homer’s life when he was born or died, where he lived, who he was- remain unknown and shall most likely never be known. Many scholars have doubted the existence of a “Homer” and point to his texts as the work of a collection of authors over a long period of time.
He was working on the pavement of the streets and that’s how he came to one day meet Emily. Homer had a good sense of humor and was friendly with the townspeople. He was admired by many and was to find in the center of most of the activities. He started dating Emily and took her out for Sunday drives in a buggy. Although he was admired, he was seen as an outsider and a day laborer who was not worthy of Emily, because Emily was seen as a woman from the higher class. to discuss this issue. There were also rumors of him being homosexual and that he was not the marrying type. Before anyone knew it, he disappeared and after Emily’s death, a body was found in her attic room which was assumed to be homers because he was wearing the same men’s outfit that she had bought decades
