Which is the greater threat to our Nation, Cyber-crime directed against individuals or terrorist cyber-attacks on national institutions? Everyone is subject to cyber-crime if you use the internet in any form, individuals, national institutions, government entities, and businesses. Which threat is greater and is the government doing enough to counter the threat? I think from a national standpoint the threat is greater, because of the ability of the hackers to take control of infrastructure that control our water supply, financial institutions, power grids, traffic controls because are not up to date and are controlled by computers. Every government entity, individual, corporation or business is at risk if they use the internet. How do individuals and protect themselves from their information being hacked by cyber criminals? Is the government responsible for providing security for the internet? I think the government with all of it is resources, National Security Agency (NSA), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI). “Homeland Security (DHS) has partnered with other agencies to include U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Law Enforcement Cyber Incident Reporting to investigate, disrupt and defeat cyber criminals and to ensure our Nation and the infrastructure is safe and secure from cyber-crimes and terrorist cyber-crime attacks. Yes; however, I am not sure if the government is capable of protecting us completely or doing enough to protect the internet. I believe one way to secure to internet is to regulate it, and I know many people are not in agreement with more government regulations, but something need to done to protect both individuals and our Nation.
