Holodomor, considered one of the history most devastating genocide second from the Holocaust. There are no exact number of people who died during this famine, but it was estimated to be around 7 to 12 millions. Holodomor was believed to be a man-made famine in Ukraine, made by the Soviet Union during the rise of Joseph Stalin. Note that Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union at that time.
During 1930 when Ukraine was trying to gain independence from Soviet Union, many great thinkers and nationalist people were coming out about Ukraine. This changes the way Ukrainian people think about the Soviet Union and it’s communism as they start questioning their rights and privacy. Ukraine also has a very fertile land and commonly knows as “ The Bread

To ensure the security of his communism, Stalin deploys scouting and watchtower to monitor and guard Ukrainian, as they will attempt to hold food from the Soviet. Again there will still be some who resist, so he introduced another law called “ class warfare” as a way to break the resistance. Those rebel farmers will be called kulaks which means “vampires, bloodsuckers, plunderers of the people”. Large amount of harvest quota will be set for the Ukrainian people, so high that it is impossible to meet. This causes food shortage throughout the country.
In the final phrase of the Genocide, Richer farmers were getting arrested or eliminated because Stalin believes that they could eventually cause threat to Stalin total rule. Kulaks will be deported to uninhabited places like Siberia and left to die; those whom were left in Ukraine will die of famine or bullets. Soviet authorities issue a law forbidding Ukrainian people to leave the country. As a result, thousands of farmers that manage to escape were sent back and faced death sentences.
In conclusion, millions of Ukrainian people experience suffers during the Holodomor genocides. Holodomor was an attempt to wipe out the Ukrainian population through methods of starvation and later extermination. Holodomor was one of the world worst modern genocides, yet they are still

Starving millions of innocents and some treated brutally. What I found that was smart in the Holodomor was to eliminate the smartest first and preventing them from rising above what they are.
Overall, Holodomor was one of the saddest genocides in the human history. My big question is if Ukraine is very important to Stalin, why did he create a man made famine to them. After the farmers are gone, there will be no one to produce food for them, which is what Stalin doesn’t want to happen. They went through eight stages of genocides which none of us can imagine what it’s like to be in it. Another reason that makes this genocide worst than the Holocaust was that fact that it’s forgotten.
The Holocaust are known all around the world, but Holodomor are not widely known compare to the Holocaust. Is it because all the denial that USSR did? On the other hand, some western educational system does not classify it as genocides either so it was not often mentioned. Therefore, it is still hard to say why it has not been recognized around the
The Holocaust will forever be known as one of the largest genocides ever recorded in history. 11 million perished, and 6 million of the departed were Jewish. The concentration camps where the prisoners were held were considered to be the closest one could get to a living hell. There is no surprise that the men, women, and children there were afraid. One is considered blessed to have a family member alongside oneself.
Holodomor is a Ukrainian word meaning “Genocide Famine” in English [holodomor.org]. The Holodomor ultimately began in 1928 when the then current leader of the Soviet Union Joseph Stalin introduced a program which would lead to the collectivization of agriculture within the Soviet Union. In order to do this, farmers would have to give up privately owned farms, livestock and equipment. These farmers would have to join state owned collective farms as they would no longer have their own farms to run. These collective farms would need to produce large amounts of grain along with feeding their own workers. Ukrainian farmers refused to join these farms, as they considered it a returned to the serfdom of centuries past. In response, Stalin
The Holocaust was the genocide of approximately six million people of innocent Jewish decent by the Nazi government. The Holocaust was a very tragic time in history due to the idealism that people were taken from their surroundings, persecuted and murdered due to the belief that German Nazi’s were superior to Jews. During the Holocaust, many people suffered both physically and mentally. Tragic events in people’s lives cause a change in their outlook on the world and their future. Due to the tragic events that had taken place being deceased in their lives, survivors often felt that death was a better option than freedom.
The Holocaust was one of the biggest genocide in the world. Over 17 million people died in it mostly Jews. There where more things to The Holocaust World War 2, Hitlers rise to power, and Anne Franks Diary. These events all happened at the same time reflecting on one another. The Holocaust was one of the worlds worst events in history.
The Holcaust was the mass murder of over ten million European 'undesireables' between 1941 and 1945 by the Nazi regime. Hitler and his Nazi's established a large number of labor and death camps throughout Nazi occupied countries. A holocaust, by definition, is a mass human slaughter caused by fire. These events Hitler authorized were categorized as a holocaust because after the prisoners in the camps died, or, if they were at a labor camp, close enough to death that they were no longer of any use to the Nazi guards stationed at the camp they were at, the guards would burn the bodies in mass.
A total of 11 million people died during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was started by the Nazi’s in the 1930’s. It was where about six million Jews were killed. Misinformed individuals theorize that the Holocaust is not a form of genocide, but they are misguided. The Holocaust should be considered an example of genocide based on the UN’s definition, the stages of genocide and the specific evidence provided in the memoir Night.
The Holocaust was one of the biggest disasters the world has ever seen. More than 1.5 million children were murdered 1.2 Jewish children, along with thousands of gypsy children, and thousands of handicapped children. The effects of the Holocaust can be felt today, not only by what we learn and read, but by those who have endured the pain of the Holocaust and saw their friends and family being tortured and killed. They victims will never forget, they will always remember.
The first reason that formed my collective memory about Holodomor was power. Power is the main component why leaders who have it start to abuse it. The excuse that goes along with it is usually the war that had occurred earlier. Since Ukraine was part of a union made by Russia, Russia felt like it had to show who was the boss and put the country back in place. The abuse was caused by Stalin not wanting to lose Ukraine but also because they needed the natural supplies. They figured they were doing nothing wrong and had the right to go into a different country with the power that a dictator holds. It is said that Stalin targeted specifically the Ukrainian people because they began to pose a serious threat to soviet’s union integrity and aspirations. Stalin wanted to annihilate the Ukrainian people that would go against his ideas and be their own country. People were arrested more often for speaking out against Stalin, hiding food, and sent to Siberia to work as a slave. Communist fanatics that helped Stalin ravaged and confisc...
The gas chambers were effective in executing swathes of prisoners at a time, and while the disposal of their corpses was not entirely considered good, it still created a machine that allowed the Nazis to achieve their mission with more
The Holocaust could best be defined as the mass killing of about 6 million Jewish people during World War II. A lot of events led up to the Holocaust, during the Holocaust, and even after the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party and was held most responsible for this terrible genocide. The Holocaust was a terrible time in our world’s history.
This stage is known as denial. During both the Holocaust and Holodomor, the Nazis and Soviet Union attempted to demolish many camps to destroy evidence of the two events. However, both sides have a significant difference. Many Nazis confessed to the Holocaust and modern day Germany takes responsibility for the Holocaust, but Soviets then and modern Russia now refuse to admit that the millions of deaths were intentional. The Russian government has only stated that the millions of deaths were a tragedy due to the Soviet famine of 1932 (Motyl 30). The Russian Federations denial that the Holodomor was intentional came soon after the Orange Revolution in Ukraine and the country’s policymakers voted on whether or not to consider the event a genocide. In 2006 the Ukrainian parliament formally declared the Holodomor a genocide (Motyl 27). The Russian government was appalled by this
I feel as if there are sparse events in recent history that are comparable to the Holocaust. Furthermore, these events are often on a much smaller scale. However, abortion and ISIS targeting Christians may be modern day Holocausts.
When 1937 arrived, Japanese soldiers raided China’s capital of Nanking and began to mass murder citizens. A sole leader of the Japanese Imperial Army was non-existent. There were many of people in power such as generals who allowed these behaviors to occur. Baron Koki Hirota, Foreign minister at the time, proceeded to do nothing while being well aware of the Japanese’s persecution of the Chinese. These unsympathetic murders of those who were thought to be Chinese soldiers as well as woman, children and elderly. This massacre lasted between the 1937 and 1938. Within this time 300,000 Chinese citizens were viciously killed. This genocide is called Rape of Nanking because of raping the woman before killing them. Most likely this group was selected because the second world war happened in Asia. This was significant because a country was able to kill half the population of another. I believe the reason of this Genocide was for Japan to take advantage of China while expand Japan. Most likely the Japanese wished to exterminate China’s entire population.
He wants his country to be uniformed and his. In 1932 through 1933 Holodomor was known as the Terror-Famine and Famine Genocide in Ukraine. There was an extreme amount of evidence that supports the fact that it was a genocide. During this time people were starved and deprived of food and water. In a result 7 to 10 million people lost their lives by this national tragedy. Joseph Stalin was a dictator of the Union who gained control of Ukraine and blocked the country so no one could get in or out. He deprived the country of food and collected all grains that were farmed. When he thought someone was a potential enemy he had them executed or sent to labor camps with just enough food to survive if that. He wanted to teach his followers, Ukraine’s framers, “A lesson they would not forget” for resisting collectivization. Stalin would command that farmers give up their land and food so that he could sell
Furthermore, the Ukraine and Russia have always shared a history; as both states are embodiments of the process of transformation, that have risen from the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the end of the Cold War. The Ukraine’s material legacy is demographically and territorially close to Russia, thereby, tying the Ukraine to Russia.
