Dr. Conclusion As we’ve seen in the research a holistic approach to preventing suicide is very effective. This prevention involves including the physical, mental and spiritual approaches together. It is an epidemic that disproportionately affects the LGBT+ but must be tailored to fit each individual. With the aid of professionals such as therapists, doctors, natural medicine practitioners, dieticians, and spiritual leaders a holistic program can be very effective in lifting depression and lower suicide rates. While each approach could be used separately, which is most often the case, the three aspects utilized together, holistically are most beneficial. On a personal note I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder and after living my life with suicidal thoughts and several attempts. I have found this information to be extremely relevant and have used it in my life. I am on medication and use alternative medicine as well. I now understand why I sometimes feel the up or down and how it relates to my physical, mental and spiritual As a holistic counselor, I am better informed as to the reasons why suicide occurs, and the unique circumstances within suicide in the LGBT+ community. …show more content…

Before this research, I had tried several of the techniques separately with some satisfactory results but it wasn’t until I put them together that miracles happened. I hope the words spreads and becomes practiced more by individuals in the LGBT+ community and anyone dealing with the issue of self-harm or suicidal tendencies. There are numerous programs and groups tailored to fit the LGBT+ community at large and individually. Every day more people think about, and commit suicide. It disproportionately affects the LGBT+
