Conflicts between Hindu’s and Muslim’s has been occurring for many years. First of all, the different religions are a conflict in itself because Hindu’s follow the belief of Hinduism while Muslim’s follow the belief of Islam. The biggest conflict of all that’s been happening for over sixty years and is still happening today, is their negotiation and war for controlling the land of Jammu and Kashmir.
Conflicts between religions happens so often that it becomes a part of everyday life. While Hinduism and Islam are two of the most popular religions in the world with over a million followers, their differences cause much tension. Hinduism is the main religion of India, one of the oldest religions in the world, which is why many people call it the

surviving religion, and it’s so old that it doesn’t even have a founder. The beliefs of Hindu’s are varied, you can be monotheistic, polytheistic, or even atheist and still be considered a Hindu. Hindu’s usually follow the Vedas, which is one of the sacred texts, and the Brahmans. They believe that our next life is determined by how we lived this one or, in other words, reincarnation and they also believe in karma. As for Islam, it was founded by the prophet Muhammed in Arabia somewhere between A.D 610 and A.D 632. Muhammed believed that he had received a task from God to reform the religion and society, so he spent his life spreading the message of monotheism to the world. Muhammed’s followers are called Muslims and they saw him as the prophet of Allah, which is their God. Muslim’s follow the Qur’an, which is their holy book that was written after Muhammed’s death and they believe it contains the word of God. They also follow the Five Pillars: faith, prayer five times a day, pilgrimage to their Holy city of Mecca, almsgiving, and fasting during the month of Ramadan. Today, just like any other religion, Islam is still growing and it is prominent in the Middle East, Asia, and Northern Africa. The conflict between these two groups began in the thirteenth century when Islamic leaders conquered most of India. While Muslims were tolerant of other religions, they hated the followers of of Hinduism because it didn’t have an all-powerful God and Hindu’s who didn’t convert to Islam were put to death. When the British controlled India in the 19th century, they partitioned India into India and Pakistan because Muslims didn’t like being dominated by the Hindu minority. While most Hindu’s are located in India and most Muslims are located in Pakistan there is still religion based violence today. The biggest conflict between Hindu’s and Muslims began in 1947, right after the British were not in control.
The two groups were fighting for control over the province of Kasmir, which is a valley in the northern part of India and is part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. They both want this piece of land because, since Muslims and Hindus were split apart, they feel the need to be more powerful than each other and take control of this beautiful piece of land. In 1947 this state was considered an independent country and the Marahaja, who was the ruler of India, made it so that India and Pakistan remained neutral. While India stuck to this agreement Pakistan attacked Jammu and Kashmir because they wanted control of it, which forced the Marahaja to escape to India. The Marahaja asked the people of India to help get rid of the Pakistanis who were attacking them and, if they did, he would make Jammu and Kashmir a part of India. The people of India got rid of most of the Pakistani attackers, but a large area that was hard to reach was still controlled by them. Since India wanted to stop the fighting, they ended up leaving the Pakistanis to have a large area, but India had an even larger area. The fighting ended in 1949 and, since other powerful states didn’t ask Pakistan to withdraw it’s troops from a state that had became a part of India, India called the United Nations and told them that Pakistan had attacked a neutral state that had became a part of India, so they should withdraw their soldiers. The United Nations agreed with this and also wanted India to ask the people of Jammu and Kashmir if they wanted to be part of India or Pakistan. The Prime Minister of India asked the people if they wanted to be part of India or Pakistan through a process called referendum or plebiscite, which is basically a vote. A plebiscite couldn’t be made because Pakistan didn’t want to give up Jammu and Kasmir, and since many powerful countries didn’t force them to withdraw their troops
for the fear of taking sides, they called Jammu and Kasmir “Disputed Territory”, which it is still called to this day even though Jammu and Kashmir is legally a part of India. Today the conflict in India and Pakistan is still going on. A plebiscite is still not allowed because Pakistan still controls a large portion of Jammu and Kashmir and does not allow freedom or democracy to the people there. The people cannot just leave because Pakistan hasn’t given them the right to a plebiscite. A plebiscite is also still not allowed because Jammu and Kasmir is a legal and inseparable part of India and the Indian government cannot allow some people to break away from India. Usually, people who want to break away from their country and form a new one are called traitors and they are hanged. Also, breaking away from your country to form a new one is against the law and many of these individuals have been arrested for trying. As for the actual province of Kashmir, it is still plagued with killing and violence but most of the Kashmirians want peace. When the Pakistanis realized this, they began to train people from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other countries to fight because they felt that the Muslim faith was in danger. The Hindu side of Jammu and Kasmir are scared of all the fighting in the Kasmir Valley and they don’t want to see the state broken away from India. As for the Pakistan side, it has been divided into two parts. The Northern Areas is the largest part but the people don’t have any rights because they’re ruled by Pakistan and their recent rebellions have been crushed. The other part is called Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where the people are also very distraught by Pakistan because they cannot gain independence even though their part is seen as a “free” country. Their leaders are supported and are comfortable in Pakistan while others do not want to stay in Pakistan. Even with all of this fighting and war, peace can still come. The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kasmir has promised to end the terrorism with the help of the Indian government, the people of the world, and even the Pakistanis themselves. If this works, Jammu and Kasmir would finally have peace and innocent people wouldn’t have to die anymore.
There are many religions that are practiced around the world, especially in Asia where there are eight different religions being practiced. In the country of India, Buddhism and Hinduism are the main religions that are practiced today. Buddhism and Hinduism were both founded in Asia, but they were founded by two different people and practiced in two different ways and languages. Buddhism is a living tradition that is passed down from teacher to student as a set of instruction and techniques for sanity and brilliance in the inner self and the world. Hinduism is more based on the thoughts and attitude about one’s everyday life, and reflects in his actions.

Probably the most logical explanation is that there has been a conflict that is decades old, that comes from, religious differences to territorial and power ambitions. This war is a war that is not going to stop until both countries solve their internal affairs, because the historical background that this two countries have is not an easy one. I think that the only way to fully achieve peace between these two countries is, for them to come to an agreement regarding the territories, and another one to respect each other’s religions.
The world religions of Islam and Christianity may have their differences to the naked eye, but when you take a closer look into their histories similarities arise. They both went through transformations that had drastic impacts on the way they were controlled and the way that the religion was taught to the followers. Christianity and Islam have both experienced splits between their members due to the fact that followers thought that their beliefs were the correct way to practice the religion. While these transformations are long in the past, the splits that have occurred within each religion continue to have lasting effects on Islam and Christianity to this day.
During the Cold War, many regional conflicts occurred and were noted as the significant battles which later led to decolonization. One of the regional conflicts were India and Pakistan fighting for their independence. In 1947, India was released under Great Britain’s control and gained its independence. However, the country was divided between Muslims and Hindus, which share different religions. Muslims wanted church and state to become unified while Hindus wanted a separation of these two establishments. Since these two ethnic groups disagreed, it was difficult to create a new government. Therefore, India was divided into two nations: India for the Hindus and Pakistan for the Muslims. Hindus and Muslims were racing to the border in order to get to their nation state which led to killing 500,000 people due to rioting. Although, Mohandas Gandhi, an Indian National Congressman, wanted to obtain peace between these two religions. Pakistan refused the H...
Judaism and Hinduism are two religions that have impacted their followers (Jews and Hindus) in many ways. They have affected the roles that both the Jews and the Hindus play in the modern world and have even impacted other cultures and religions. So you may think they have quite a bit in common, right? While they are quite similar, they are also very different in their spiritual beliefs, God/gods, and their religious practices.
In conclusion, Most of the world's religious conflicts arise between these two religion despite how similar the two are. Both communities are striving for the ultimate goal of world peace trough religion but if we keep up the way we resolve our problems there will be no people left to enjoy the peace.
Neither side wants to give in and are currently fighting on. The most threatening conflict between Hindus and Muslims is in the province of Kashmir. This is where the decision to divide India into India and Pakistan seems to have been a terrible mistake. Kashmir, which is the only Muslim majority city in India, lies between the divided India and Pakistan. After India’s independence in the 1940’s, Kashmir had to choose to either unite with India or Pakistan.
The Tajik, an ethnicity that believes in similar ideas. Tajik demonstrators Wanted to bury Habibullah Kalakani with honor because he was critical of the Tajik people. The general Abdul Rashid Dostum opposed, and the Tajik demonstrators resorted to violence. General Dostum supporters believed the hill had historical value to the Uzbeks tribe. So when the Tajik demonstrators tried to dig graves, conflict arises. Ethnic conflict occurs when a group attempts to destroy or take over a location sacred to the other groups. This is similar to the ethnic conflict explained in chapter 6 of our book. The war began in 1992 among Catholic Croats, Orthodox Christian Serbs, and Bosnian Muslims as political leaders scrambled for control over land and power. Similarly, to Afghanistan, each religion wanted to control an area because of its historical relevance. I don’t consider myself part of an ethnic group. So my experience is limited. But in my hometown, there was a conflict with different ethnicities over a shrine that an ethnicity considered sacred. I don’t like change, so I had other opinions on wanting to move the church. I received death threats for openly expressing my opinion. And so I know the dynamics of ethnic conflict. After this tragic experience, it opened up new ways of how I viewed the world and the surrounding people. In conclusion, ethnic conflict is a
Hinduism is the oldest religion, and Islam is the fastest growing religion. Hinduism believes in Kharma, Dharma, and Moksha. Islam was founded by Muhammad in 622 A.D. You may think that Hinduism and Islam have nothing in common, but they have some things in common. Hinduism wasn’t started the same way as Islam, but it doesn’t mean they don't have things in common.
In late 1947, the newly created states of India and Pakistan went to war over the valley of Kashmir. A United Nations brokered ceasefire divided the state into Indian and Pakistani controlled territories, and resolved that a referendum would be held in which the people of Kashmir would be able to choose to join either country. The referendum has not been held to this day. India granted its portion of Kashmir a special status within its constitution, allowing for a great degree of self-autonomy. However, successive Kashmiri governments have been dissolved by the government of India, and elections have only been held in the presence of its armed forces. In 1965, Pakistan and India waged a second indecisive war over Kashmir. In the 1980s, resistance within Kashmir itself against the Indian government took on a violent nature, with guerilla attacks against Indian army bases. India responded with heavy army clampdowns, and since then the situation has only escalated and get worse. It is estimated that well over 34,000 people have died within the valley, and the relations between the two countries have become increasingly acrimonious. India blames Pakistan for the militant uprising, claiming Islamabad is supporting cross border terrorism. Pakistan responds that it merely provides diplomatic and moral support arguing, furthermore, that India’s history of human rights abuses in the valley is to blame. With both countries now in possession of nuclear arms; the recent war in KARGIL and the increasing number of civilian deaths, refugees, and other human rights issues within Kashmir, the conflict seems to be taking on a more serious nature. In this paper I will discuss the Kashmir conflict in some depth, examining the problem in...
The history of Indo-Pakistani relations has been a dominated by turbulence and bitter rivalry. After the partition in 1947, millions of people migrated to their new home in either the Islamic state of Pakistan or the secular state of India. Only two weeks after independence, India and Pakistan fought a war over Kashmir in 1948. India and Pakistan fought two more wars with each other in 1965 and 1971, with the latter resulting in the creation of Bangladesh. Since then, India and Pakistan have had very hard feelings against each other due to numerous Hindu-Muslim conflicts, the territorial dispute over Kashmir, and other bilateral tensions.
1916-Lucknow Pact. The Congress and the League unite in demand for greater self-government. It is denied by the British.
...he two sides and a plan was made to partition the subcontinent and hand the power over to two successor states on August 15, 1947 (5).
We can start by recounting history, where the roots of the conflict lie. India was one massive nation made up of several states, ruled by the British. A long and difficult independence struggle culminated with the British choosing to leave India in August 1947. The Muslims of the land decided that instead of just a Free India, they would create a Free Pakistan for themselves as well. They were fearful that as a minority, the Hindu majority would trample their rights and religion. Both countries would be formed as soon as the British handed back control in August. The rulers of each individual state constituting India would chose which country to join, hopefully following the wishes of its people. This idea was fraught with problems. There were quite a few states that had a majority of one religion yet the ruler belonged to another faith. The states of Hyderabad and Junagarh were examples of this. Both had Hindu majorities and M...
