Hill-Rom provides a wide variety of products and services under main categories which can bee seen below: b. How Products or Solutions Might Reduce The Total Cost For Hospital Pricing Strategies and Differentiation As we learned from Chapter 12, price must be carefully determined and match with firm’s product, distribution, and communication strategies. (Hutt & Speh, 2012, p. 300) Therefore, there should be a strong market perspective in pricing. In order to build an effective pricing policy, marketers should focus on the value a customer places on a product or service. One of the most effective ways to do so is differentiating through value creation. According to a study mentioned in the textbook, benefits have a bigger effect on perceived …show more content…

The leading cause of injury to nursing and hospital staff is the repeated manual lifting, and lifting and transferring of patients. This increasing incident rates cost to healthcare organizations. “Safe Patient Handling” programs have become one of the top initiatives for healthcare organizations. With the help of this program, work-related injuries and injuries due to patient falls can be reduced. Hill-Rom’s high technologies, processes, and tools assist hospitals to enhance outcomes for patients. This program has started to help caregiver injury and generate economic benefits. Through the implementation of this program, a number of healthcare institutions have reached better outcomes. Some of the clinical results are: • The use of ceiling lift systems has been shown to decrease spine forces experienced by caregivers during patient handling in one laboratory-based study. • The implementation of a safe patient handling program has been shown, at one institution, to reduce workers’ compensation costs by 40% and lead to an increase in employee
The prevention of falls in the long term care facility is one of the most important interventions the health care team can do to ensure the safety of loved ones under their care. According to the Summary Data of Sentinel Events Reviewed by the Joint Commission (2016), there were 806 falls between 2004-2015 with 95 of those occurring in 2015 . As health care providers, we have a responsibility to incorporate interventions that will help protect the patient while under our care. Interventions as simple as ensuring the use of a gait belt by any team member that transfers the patient, to making sure all team members are aware of the medications that can make certain patients more of a fall risk, will help in the prevention of falls.
The research shows that a great amount of CNAs get job related injuries. But the cause of those injuries is not the lack of the lift machines. Instead, it is the lack of time to perform care and lack of proper training. In order to improve safety in the health care setting, the facilities should hire more CNAs, increase their salary and provide help so the CNAs feel more prepared and confident. Being a nursing assistant is not an easy job. And performing care while you are suffering with from an injury is even

In conclusion, it is evident that patient falls can cause a multitude of problems and for many hospitals and nursing facilities falls seem to be an issue. Working to reduce these falls with more than one intervention has proven beneficial. Preventing the number of falls in a hospital will not only work to prevent the injuries that arise when a patient has fallen it will also help to reduce the number of times a patient is readmitted to the hospitals, and delaying patients recovery.

Patient falls is one of the commonest events within the healthcare facilities that affect the safety of the patients. Preventing falls among patients requires various methods. Recognition, evaluation, and preventing of patient falls are great challenges for healthcare workers in providing a safe environment in any healthcare setting. Hospitals have come together to understand the contributing factors of falls, and to decrease their occurrence and resulting injuries or death. Risk of falls among patients is considered as a safety indicator in healthcare institutions due to this. Falls and related injuries have consistently been associated with the quality of nursing care and are included as a nursing-quality indicator monitored by the American Nurses Association, National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators and by the National Quality Forum. Patient safety is a major issue in health care, especially in the public sector. Studies show that as many as 10 patients get harmed daily as they receive care in stroke rehabilitation wards in hospitals in the United States alone. Patient safety refers to mechanisms for preventing patients from getting harmed as they receive health care services in hospitals. The issue of patient safety is usually associated with factors such as medication errors, wrong-site surgery, health care-acquired infections, falls, diagnostic errors, and readmissions. Patient safety can be improved through strategies such as improving communication within hospitals, increasing patient involvement, reporting adverse events, developing protocols and guidelines, proper management of human resources, educating health-care providers on the need for patient protection, and commitment of the leadership to the task. This paper talks about patient safety and how it can be improved in stroke rehabilitation wards of both public and private hospitals.
Despite numerous clinical, regulatory efforts and huge expenditures, poor quality of care in nursing homes is still a big problem. Falls among nursing home residents happened frequently and repeatedly. 50% to 75% of nursing home residents fall each year. That’s twice the rate of falls for people living in the community. Although 5% of adults 65 and older live in nursing facilities, nursing home residents account for about 20% of deaths from falls in this age group [3].
In the modern world of conducting business, any company that wishes to succeed must differentiate its products or services from others in the industry. Differentiation makes it possible for consumers to point out notable differences between one company’s products as compared to those of competitors. Differentiation helps companies build brand loyalty as the uniqueness keeps customers fixed on a particular product. BMW is one of the most popular automakers in the world today. It definitely uses differentiation as a strategy to beat off competition by building products that are innovative, detailed and incomparable to those of competitors.
Events of falls not only impact the patients and their families, but the hospital as well. To the patients, a fall causes injuries that lead to mortality, morbidity, and early nursing home placement (Kim, et al., 2007). In addition, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that 20% of patients who fell,
That compete in mature markets with highly undifferentiated offers and capabilities are especially challenged with articulating a unique value proposition, according to Gartner. Analysts have therefore identified a three-step process to help such companies uncover the unique attributes of their value proposition, enabling them to differentiate themselves.
Universal implementation of safe patient handling and mobility (SPHM) in all healthcare settings, for all healthcare workers who assist in patient mobility, and for all patients who require assistance with mobility is a goal of practitioners and leaders in the field (Powell-Cope, G., & Rugs, 2015, p. 13). Direct patient care responsibilities are reported as the primary source for musculoskeletal disorders among nursing staff. Back injuries and shoulder strains are major concerns, which both can be extremely debilitating. A variety of tasks are within the plan of nursing care, such as repositioning, lifting, and transferring patients, and, are often performed without assistance (American Nurses, 2013). Patient care, most often related to low
Pricing. Our product is priced lower than our competitors in our industry. Even though our competitors have a different kind of product compared to us.
Safety is a primary concern in the health care environment, but there are still many preventable errors that occur. In fact, a study from ProPublica in 2013 found that between 210,000 and 440,000 patients each year suffer preventable harm in the hospital (Allen, 2013). Safety in the healthcare environment is not only keeping the patient safe, but also the employee. If a nurse does not follow procedure, they could bring harm to themselves, the patient, or both. Although it seems like such a simple topic with a simple solution, there are several components to what safety really entails. Health care professionals must always be cautious to prevent any mishaps to their patients, especially when using machines or lifting objects, as it has a higher
