Hilary Duff is on the cover of Cosmopolitan's April issue. During her interview, the singer-actress openly addressed her recent divorce from Mike Comrie, Aaron Cater, and her music career. Duff stated that she and Comrie were really in love when they met, and they really wanted to get married. Although she was only 22 years old when she got married, Duff believed her decision was the right one at that time. "I'd been working since the age of 11 or 12, so making that choice at a young age seemed right for me. Maybe it wasn't, but we spent the majority of our time together really happy," she told Cosmopolitan. As the years went by, Duff said they both realized they were not a good match for each. "I don't want to sound bitter because I'm definitely not, but I don't know if people are meant to be together forever," Duff stated. The singer believes that things happen over the course of a relationship that just can't fixed. Duff does acknowledge that couples in twenty year relationships had to make huge sacrifices in order to make the relationship work. In the end, Duff said she just wants to be happy, and she will always fight for happiness. Duff said writing her song "All About You" was a freeing experience because she was in a dark period at the time. "I wrote that song for a reason! I've enjoyed myself. I think everyone should have something where you know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but you just have a wicked good time," Duff told Cosmopolitan. She added,"That was really freeing for me and a bit of an awakening. It's fun to have a secret."
