All of the musicals going on and how amazing high school will be once they make it that far into life. High School Musical takes away the part of how academics should take a huge role in education. That is a danger towards the movie. It would have been good if the movie was made to where it brings out more of real life education while still being a musical. Hollywood could have made a song about maintaining a good grade in class to be eligible to take part in the extracurricular activity. The success to the film about education is that being involved is always a plus. In H. G. Bisssinger’s highly regarded Friday Night Lights, high school football is accurately portrayed as the most important thing in Texas.
Rent. To most people it is associated with an apartment, house, or another object. This word rarely conjures pleasant memories, but more often annoyance and stress. However, when someone mentions rent to me, my mind races to some of the most memorable experiences in my life.
It was a cool, crisp November evening, while five teenagers were hustling and bustling around my house excitedly getting ready for their very first showing of the live version of their all time favorite movie. They knew it would be the best night of their lives. The night of my 15th birthday party, my friends and I all piled into my parents car around 11:00 PM and headed off down the road to the Heights Theater. The movie we are about to see is an all time classic. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the best cult film of all time. The movie has all the three basic elements it should have. It has funny audience participation, wonderful acting, and a great story line.
The diversity meant that there weren’t cliques or groups, but that the whole school was a community of students that could rely on each other for support. I saw the same people that I knew every time I went to school and not new faces every day. The diversity shows that there are no discrimination and very few bullying. Everyone knew each other and this built a stronger relationship between the students and the faculty that does not exist in big public schools. With the small class room sizes, students had an intimate relationships with the teachers and this allowed them to able to open up and ask for help when needed.

Basic education principles have not changed for over one hundred years. The core of school has not changed even though some changes have been made. In the fifties to the sixties some aspects of these changes have become apparent, such as bridging the gap in the races, and connecting boys and girls to all be taught by the same teachers. In this day and age students are expected to keep up with the schooling system while also keeping up with extra curricular activities, like band, sports, and clubs. This is not all students will need to do while in school. Students in schools have social lives, and they have a
As much as this class has grown together, every one of us has also grown as a unique individual. We have found our talents and interests. These interests have drawn us to different activities and in turn helped shape our lives. Some of us have excelled academically while others have helped improve Summer High School by participating in activities such as Link Crew or ASB. Some of us acted in plays while others shared their musical talents by singing in the choir or performing with our outstanding band. Many of us have preferred to be involved in community service with a group like KEY Club. In addition to these school activities, many of us have invested time in jobs and other community activities.
If one were to ask what the basis of human nature and civilization encompasses, I would tell them to read Victor Hugo’s epic novel, Les Miserables (1862). Set in various locations in France, spanning from 1815 to 1832, the novel follows the main protagonist, Jean Valjean. The story begins with the Bishop of Digne and his daily life. Jean Valjean, a released convict, stumbles upon the town where the Bishop lives and is shunned from every inn he goes to due to his status as a former prisoner. The only one who will let him take shelter is the Bishop of Digne. This act of kindness transforms Jean Valjean from being spiteful of humanity to being saint-like towards it, in regards to the Bishops wishes.
First and foremost, extracurricular activities increase academic performance of students in a myriad of ways. Students who are struggling in their classes have an opportunity to receive remediation that may not be allowed be the time constraints of a school day. Moreover, because they have time to get teacher help after school, they have more individualized instruction and assistance that a class size of 30 students just doesn’t permit. However, for students already excelling in academics, some extracurricular activities offer those high-achieving students to take their performance to the next level. Through such activities as Mathcounts, Technology Student Association, Debate, and Model United Nations, students already doing well in school have the chance to compete with other advanced students in competitions that challenge their critical thinking skills and their speed in skills learned in school. Furthermore, for all students, some extracurriculars provide incentives to do well in school; National Junior Honor Society, for example, recognizes students wit...
