From 1903 until now Ford has always stayed on top. Henry Ford was born on July 30th, 1863 in Greenfield Township, Michigan. Mr. Ford was educated at the Detroit Business Institute where he learned the basics of building a company. Henry Ford lived a long and fast paced life while he was revolutionizing the world. He died at the age of 83 in Dearborn, Michigan. Henry Ford was the most revolutionary man in American history for his creative outlook on the assembly line and his major role in the invention of the automobile. Henry Ford did not invent the assembly line, but got the idea while visiting a slaughterhouse. The improved style of the automobile was able to launch other motor companies and the assembly line is not only used in car production, but used in almost every single produced product. His two ideas changed society forever. Car companies are definitely not the only ones who use the “assembly line method” this idea is used by food companies, toy companies, and almost an other company you can imagine. This idea was picked up by our military and is still being used today. “The massive demand for military hardware in World War II prompted assembly-line techniques in shipbuilding and aircraft production. Thousands of Liberty Ships were built making extensive use of prefabrication, enabling ship assembly to be completed in weeks or even days. After having produced fewer than 3,000 planes for the United States Military in 1939, American aircraft manufacturers built over 300,000 planes in World War II” (History Staff 2). This small idea of advancement has now skyrocketed around the world, and is utilized by a plethora companies, and changing the production industry for the better. The Ford Company was the first non-meat packing company to use the assembly line and after they introduced it to the public, many other companies wanted to use the same method in order to strengthen their company as well. “Ford at one point considered suing other car companies because they used the assembly line in their production, but decided against it, realizing it was essential to creation and expansion of the industry as a whole” (History Staff 4). Although Henry Ford was a successful businessman, he thought about society as a whole and how the assembly line could change it forever. He was always thinking ahead and thinking about how to improve everything.
