“You can’t learn in school what the world is going to do next year.” (Henry Ford Quotes). This quote was illustrated by the well known businessman Henry Ford. Child of William and Mary Ford, Henry Ford was born on 30 July 1863 ( "Henry Ford." Gale). Ford is a well known as the founder of the Ford Motor Company and the inventor of the assembly line. As a boy Ford became a self-taught mechanic and machinist by tinkering with items he could find laying around his home. At age 16 Ford left home and moved to the city of detroit. When he first arrived he found a job at a nearby machine shop. The assembly line allowed to make products quickly and affordable( "Henry Ford Gale”). The assembly line is a system moving items past workers who each assemble a particular part for the vehicle being manufactured ("Henry Ford Gale”). The assembly line made it easier manufacturing vehicles because only one person had to focus on one job. Vehicles became produced a lot faster than they had in previous years because of the assembly line was so efficient. The assembly line cut completion time of one vehicle's chassis assembly in half ( “Ford's Assembly Line Turns 100”).Before the assembly line it would have taken 12 to produce on vehicle, with the use of the assembly line it only took six hours to manufacture one vehicle ( “Ford's Assembly Line Turns 100”). The engine assembly was also done more quickly. Engine assembly originally took ten hours to assemble one engine. Due to the assembly line it only took four hours to assemble one engine ( “Ford's Assembly Line Turns 100”). Ford had produced a variety of vehicles. Some vehicles he had made was the, Lincoln Zephyr, Model T truck and of course the famous Model T (FRENCH). Ford manufactured three different models of the Model T. One model was the five seat touring car which was a four door with three seats in the back and two in the front. Another model was the two seat runabout which was a two door with two seats in the front and also was the least expensive out of the three models. The last model was the seven seat town car which was the most expensive ("Henry Ford and the Model T Video"). In 1917 Ford introduced the model t truck also known as the model tt. The model t truck was capable of hauling one ton of freight. During World War I 39,000 Model T trucks were used in the war, many as ambulances (1924 Ford Model T Truck ). In 1936 Ford introduced the Lincoln Zephyr. The Lincoln Zephyr was a luxury vehicle that was very modern for its time. When the Zephyr was first produced in 1936 it was available in two models.
