Thirdly, Marginalized Masculinity means being incapable of owning specific characteristic of hegemonic masculinity such as non-white and disabled . This can be due to some reasons. For example, because of race, the quality ‘whiteness’ might be lacked. This kind of masculinity still strives for other qualities of hegemonic masculinity such as physical strength.
Last, Subordinate Masculinity is a kind of masculinity that does not have hegemonic masculinity’s qualities and these people also own characteristic opposite to those of hegemonic masculinity. This person can be physically weak or not be heterosexual (being gay or acting femininely)

Men have historically held power in society, which means that women did not have as much stance or freedoms as men have had in the past. For example, Canadian women did not have the right to vote until the year 1916.
