The healthcare industry has acknowledged a propagation of innovations which aim at increasing life expectancy, worth of life, diagnostic and treatment choices, as well as the competence and cost efficacy of the healthcare system. Information technology has played a vital role in the innovation of healthcare systems.
• To identify supply chain practices prevailing in the Hospitals and the HealthCare Industry and to simultaneously ascertain the digital assets and IT solution that are used in the industry.
• Study and map the drivers and barriers in implementation of Information Technology solutions to the needs of logistics and supply chain management function in the Health care sector.
• To understand the benefits of Digital Assets in the supply chain of the industry and make recommendations based on the best practices being followed around the globe.

Kaiser Permanente is undergoing a supply chain transformation. It is the US’s largest none profit health plan, serving 9.5 million members with 38 hospitals and over 17,000 doctors and 48,000 nurses. Kaiser Permanente success depends on effectiveness and efficiency of their supply chain. Kaiser Permanente is successful because there chain management enhances performance and productivity with strategic combination of system, technology and people compare to other health care providers.
Though the benefits of IT are numerous, successful adoption into healthcare has been difficult. The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (2004) states, “barriers include the cost and complexity of IT implementation, which necessitates significant work process and cultural changes” (p. 158). These challenges, sadly, have resulted in a series of ineffective systems.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss how Electronic Medical Records (EMR), affects healthcare delivery. I will discuss the positives and negatives this issue has on healthcare and how it effects the cost and quality for healthcare services. In addition, I will identify any potential trade-offs to cost or quality. Lastly, I will discuss how the EMR affects my job as well as any challenges or opportunities this issue presents.
