Health care organizations constantly endorse the services they provide through strategic planning by advertising goods and services to consumers. Strategic planning is a process of steps taken to operate a successful business. It gives health care organizations a sense of direction on how to organize, plan, and improve ways to be efficient and gain patient satisfaction. It requires a generous amount of research in addition to keeping track of marketing trends in health care. The relationship between marketing and strategic planning is further described in this reading in addition to applying informative information from three different peer reviewed journal articles. Health care organizations adopt their marketing strategies and plans from various industries. However, when planning, committees must separate strengths and weaknesses when developing a marketing strategy. Research from a non-healthcare sector relates to health care. A study conducted by Mohammadzadeh, Aarabi, & Salamzadeh (2013) showed their strategic marketing plan was to create employee-patient relationships to increase paitnet satisfaction and increase revenue in pharmecutical retail. Employee-patient relationships increases patient perception. One strategic plan to increase patient perception is to display credentials and make sure the environment is not overly-crowded (Van Rompay & Tanja-Dijkstra, 2010). Both studies provided techniques from retail experiences that health care organizations can use to satisfy and attract consumers in addition to increasing revenue.
