A HIT (Health Information technician) Is someone who deals with computers and stories
Patient information and also share information to doctors and insurance companies. One of the
main job is to keep all information on patients organized and up to date. Management is the
best way to describe this profession being able to manage nurses to make sure the right data
and coding on a patient is correct. One wrong information can make a lot of trouble for
patients.
The requirements for HIT is an associates degree or a certification. The main
education or certification that is needed is in billing and coding and something that someone
has to know how to use is Microsoft excel. Microsoft excel is a program that doctors use the

para.4). Fourth is writing, being able to write emails and sending letter to doctor, nurses, and
insurance companies is a needed skill so you don’t seem unprofessional and making sure to get
your point across. And finally is problem solving, being able to fix computer problems that you
or other nurses or doctors may have. Also be able to solve patient records that could effect
patients from being ineligible for claim you may have to figure why and make sure nothing put
in wrong or that there wasn’t a code put in wrong. There aren’t really much that I have learn it
more of there is a lot I didn’t know and need to learn and practice. I need to learn how to write
and get out of the habit of writing the way I talk. I need to widen my vocabulary and learn
different formatting for different emails and letters. And learn how to get my point across
Aside from personality traits and characteristics needed in this field, certified medical assistants also need to possess certain applied skills. The role and responsibilities of a Health Information Technician (HIT) also known as a Medical Records Technician include maintaining the medical information system of a healthcare facility in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include organizing and coding patient records, recording information on patient records, the gathering of statistical and research data, monitoring information to ensure confidentiality and medical coding for billing purposes. Technicians communicate on a regular basis with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain information and clarify diagnosis. This is one of the only fields in the healthcare system that you will not have contact with patients. You will work in an office environment and typically work a forty hour week and if in a twenty four hour facility, some nights and weekends. According to the American Health Information Management Association, Health information is the data related to a person’s medical history, including symptoms, diagnoses, procedures, and outcomes. Health information records include patient histories, lab results, x-rays, clinical information, and notes. The data can be analyzed to see how a patient’s health might have changed. I took interest in Health Information Management when it was brought to my attention by a doctor. He told me that is a very interesting field and it is in high demand as they have more jobs than people to fill them. I went home, researched it and now here I am making my entry into the field.
