Health fair is a brilliant way to encourage employees and the students to participate in a public or community beneficial activities at a booth to provide health screenings. I started planning my health fair for a few weeks in advance of the University's health fair. I’ve organized my notes from what I needed to go into a planning guide. I will inform the students regarding the ins and outs of the health fair and what is required to be accomplished and what is expected of all the participating students. I interviewed every single student so I can understand their knowledge, level ability and how much they are willing to participate in this event and I can answer all of their questions. I made a schedule for each one of the students, so they …show more content…
They showed up on time and did their assignment as it was told. • The students that did not participate but gave you a heads up For this scenario, they are more to exceed expectation that they meet expectation with no unexcused absence because students even didn’t show up, but they let me know that they are unable to be there. Their ahead notice gave me enough time to replace them. • The students that were scheduled but did not show up as assigned or very late This scenario, they did meet the expectations because there was more than one unexcused absence, so they were tardy. • The students that volunteered to cover the open spots Volunteers exceeded expectations because they fill in what was spots were missing. This group of students can be recognized and appreciated by the management. I would recommend this group students to be rewarded so other participants can learn how exceeding expectation can be recognized and appreciated. • The students forced to work the extra hours and complained about it the whole
D1: I have decided to look at a 6 year old going through bereavement. Bereavement means to lose an individual very close to you. When children go through bereavement they are most likely to feel sad and upset about the person’s death. Children at a young age may not understand when a family member dies. Children may not understand bereavement. For example a 6 year old’s father been in a car crash and has died from that incident. Death is unpredictable and children can’t be prepared for a death of a family member as no one knows when someone is going to die or not. Unfortunately every child can experience bereavement even when a pet dies. It is important that we are aware that effects on the child so we can support them in the aftermath.
Self- care abilities of individuals and communities are important to promote mental and physical health and to reduce mortality and morbidity that occur from accidental injuries and chronic conditions (Dillion, 1997). Lifestyle changes have an effect on health prevention and delay of diseases and health problems. Dillion states if nurses use strategies from community nursing and objects from Healthy People 2000 they can identify threats to health promote and maintain health. Dillion states a key strategy is a health fair (Dillion,
Afternoon by Philip Larkin. A poem which reflects on the subject of marriage is 'Afternoons' by Philip Larkin. The poem deals with Larkin's view on young mothers. watching their kids playing in a playground and on this he concludes that marrying young and having children young, lead to the mothers.

I am determined to have a perfect attendance when it comes to my college classes. Keeping a balanced attendance allows me to be up to date with assignments and set an excellent example of myself. Participating in class activities like writing on the board or reading aloud examples, was not my one of my biggest strong suits. Although I spoke out in my assigned groups, which brought a lot more attention to myself, I did not openly speak out in front of the whole class and volunteer myself. This is a certain area that I need to improve on. Although I did not speak out as openly as I should, I always came fully prepared. Being prepared and organized helped keep everything I needed together so I could perform at my fullest potential. In addition, I made sure to create reminders on my phone notifying what I would need, when to work on a certain assignment for the class, and especially for my conferences with Dr. Kennedy (refer to page 3). For my future classes, I will continue to have perfect attendance, be organized, and practice my writing. In time, I will become better at speaking out in

“Healthy People provides science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving the health of all Americans.” ( United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Healthy People 2020 , 2011). It acts as a national guide for disease prevention and health promotion. There are various objectives and goals which serve as the guideline to achieve overall improvement in health . ‘Educational and Community-Based Programs’ is one of them. According to U.S Department of Health and Human Services the main goal of these programs is to “Increase the quality, availability, and effectiveness of educational and community-based programs designed to prevent disease and injury, improve health, and enhance quality of life.” (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2011). This particular goal of Healthy People 2020 focuses on increasing the number educational and community based programs to increase awareness about disease prevention and health among every individual of the society. It focuses on educating them on various topics including chronic diseases, substance abuse, prevention of injury and violence to encourage and enhance health. It emphasizes on increasing the quantity and quality of such programs so that a larger population could benefit from the program and gain effective knowledge to achieve a healthy life.
Healthy People 2020 is a program for the promotion of health and the prevention of diseases, launched by the Department of Health and Human Services in December 2010. According to healthypeople.gov, this program has four overarching goals which are first to achieve healthy, longer lives free of preventable diseases, injuries, and premature deaths; to achieve health fairness, eliminate differences, and improve all groups’ health; also to produce social and physical environments that encourage good health; and last but not least to promote life’s quality, healthy development, and healthy behaviors through all life stages. This program has a vision of a community where people live long, healthy lives. Healthy People 2020 offers a comprehensive set of 10 years of nationwide goals and objectives that is meant to improve the health of the American population. Healthy People 2020 covers 42 topic areas with approximately 600 objectives, which include 1,200 measures. A smaller set of Healthy People 2020 objectives, has been designated to communicate high-priority health issues and actions that can be taken to address them, this objectives are called Leading Health Indicators. The program goes above and beyond these health indicators in order to provide the best care for the people of this country. These indictors cover from the access of health service, nutrition, physical activity, and obesity to substance abuse, environmental quality, injury and violence.
... the students a better understanding of what I am looking for in each entry. I think I will use a suggestion from McTighe, “Teachers can also use the examples (with student names removed) with future students to help them see the difference excellent, good, fair, and poor work.”(Richardson, 2009) This will be a great way for students to identify what is expected of them and it will save instructional time in the process so we don’t fall behind in my pacing scale
attendance. Yet as was to be expected, this is not what happens, none of the
Just because as the substitute teacher needs time to organize, it does not make it an adequate reason to give a test. There is no teacher preparation for the test, a valid reason and it is a test that will probably not cover any relevant information. C - It´s Wednesday and you´ve just finished a reading passage and tell the students they will need to be able to summarize the main points of it in a test on Friday. C-
I was very excited to have healthcare as the topic for my groups presentation, I’ve personally never had to deal with the logistics of healthcare or even needed to know how it worked. If I was sick I would go to the hospital or see a doctor and as long as they took my insurance, we were good to go. When we first started thinking about our topic as a group and the elements we wanted to add, we asked ourselves this: “What have we heard about healthcare but know nothing about?” the result was three main categories Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare. We assumed that as a group if we knew little about these topics, then there was a good chance no one in the class did either. Some of the things I found most interesting during the process of creating
There are numerous public health problems that can be addressed in my Southside of Chicago community. Among the several public health problems facing my Southside of Chicago community there are two that are more urgent. Health education or one might say lack thereof is a problem that needs to be addressed. My community is plagued with many of the residents suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes, and the killer virus known as HIV. In most cases these conditions can be prevented with healthier lifestyles and access to nutritious organic foods. In addition, environmental health is another urgent problem my community is facing. Access to clean, safe water and air is supposed to be a fundamental human right aimed at a healthy environment. Yet, my community consists a waste contaminated beach, numerous deteriorated building that are still occupied, and a countless number of restaurant and stores supplying our residents with services that are endangering their health.
Attendance is a crucial aspect of a student’s education. When a student is tardy or absent, this interferes with them receiving the information given in class. Class introductions that include instructions, objectives, due dates, etc. may be missed if a student is tardy and if a student is absent, they may also get behind on their class work and homework. Communication between teacher and students about the classroom management procedures for these two things are important so that students are informed and are able to take the initiative to gather what they have missed which can help avoid them falling behind. If tardies and absences are frequent, a teacher may begin to be concerned and question what could be the possible reasons behind it, whether that be an outside force in a student’s life or something that may be happening in the teacher’s own classroom. Establishing a relationship and reflecting upon oneself as a teacher to why the class might be having
I have learned a lot about my health and wellness thorough out this semester it is truly amazing. The impact these seven different dimensions have on our health they are, physical, intellectual, psychological, spiritual, social, environmental, and occupational all play a role in our health. All in so many different ways working together to make a brighter and happier healthier us. These seven dimensions make up whom we are and how we live our life is all based upon how we balance these dimensions.
