A good communication between the physician and their patients and families is very important in the medical profession. A proper question answering is required to effectively treat and help relieve the patient of their ailment. An effective communication is the first interaction that is between the patient and the physician towards developing a trust in the patient-physician relationship. There is one other aspect in everyday life of a physician where a good and understanding communication is very important such as delivering bad news. Other things that contribute are the physician’s personal characteristics, past experiences, values, culture, attitudes, beliefs and biases have an important impact on communication with the patients.2 Delivering bad news can be stressful and difficult on the physician’s side as well, which can affect how the news is delivered and affects how the patient will take the whole situation. A physician should always try to keep the hopes living. I personally am a very optimist and hopeful person. It is important not to make promises that you may not be able to keep or give assurances about the future that may not hold true. However, giving the patient; and their families a reason to believe that there is still a ray of light and there is a meaning after all this, their contributions have value, and their prospects have potential is a good virtue to have on the provider’s side. Trying to do so makes the patient to keep up with what is good for them and help them accept the changes that would have to be instilled upon them post diagnosis. They will better comply with the treatment options and it will make it better for you as a provider to take good care of your patient. On the split side, during the actual delivering of the bad news, giving them hope is the best that one can do in that whole situation of negativity.
