Diversity is something not only many individuals face on a day to day basis, but also something that we face as a nation together. Now diversity can be dispersed into many different categories, but for the sack of this research paper. We will focus majority towards the workplace spectrum and how exactly that correlates within harassment. But to be able to fully understand how harassment can be involved within the topic, first we must discover exactly what is harassment.
Harassment can be simply identified, as behavior that is intentionally found to threaten or disturb an individual. This can include many forms of harassment such as sexual, racial, age, and et cetera. Which all can be found in and out of the workforce. Harassment is something that is not new, but something that we have had and seen for a very long time. Harassment is very frowned upon around the world and can result to serious punishment. Therefore many laws have come together and have swarmed around the issue, for the soul purpose of protecting, for example, Title VII of Civil Rights Act of 1964, The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). Anyone can be harassed no matter the age or ethnicity and anyone can be the harasser. However laws do differ depending on the state that you live in.

Workplace bullying is a major occupational health concern among nurses worldwide, and it has increased health care cost due to high turnover (Stagg & Sheridan, 2010). This is because so many of us--women and men alike--have become desensitized to offensive behaviors. Sexual harassment in any form is unacceptable behavior and should not be tolerated by anyone. It undermines our ability to study, to work, and to feel like effective, empowered people in the world.

Behavior that is considered harassment include, but are not limited to, threats, intimidation, derogatory statements, malicious statements, or any inappropriate, unwelcome, physical or verbal advances, that foster a hostile work environment for the person on the receiving end of the harassing words or actions.
Harassment and discrimination claims are due to lack of education about the subject. As an independent human resources consultant, Santiago-Santos will organize a local education campaign and provide employers with different trainings to educate them and their employees about harassment and discrimination. Employers will have a better understanding on how to develop internal policies and procedures to address these claims. Also, trainings will be provided for employees and they will be educated on how to prevent and identify harassment and discrimination as well as what steps to take in order to report such behavior.
Do people know when and how to report Sexual Harassment? Why do you think some people never report it? There are many different types of Sexual Harassment like sexual abuse in men and women, sexual abuse in the military, workplace, colleges and almost everywhere. It is a huge problem everywhere and the issue isn 't brought up as much because it isn 't reported or people who are behind the assault scare victims into believing that they will be in trouble or are embarrassed. Once more women and men start reporting or even just informing more people of what is sexual harassment is, that way they know how and when to report it.
Sexual harassment in the workplace has been a huge problem in recent history. It can happen to anyone, and it can happen everywhere. It can affect all types of races, genders and ages. Statistics today show that more and more sexual harassment has become an issue due to the large number of cases presented. Mainstream media becomes consumed covering sexual harassment because of the high-profile cases.
