I found their cabin and entered it cheerfully, I couldn’t see the lady, but I saw the man sitting peacefully. “Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” I exclaimed enthusiastically, But he seemed not to have even noticed me. “Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” I slowly repeated, The man quickly raised his eyes from where he was seated. “Why, happy St. Patrick’s Day to you too!” he smiled, giving his pen a tap, Then I stepped closer to see what he was so carefully sketching on his lap. “A poem!” I exclaimed to him eagerly, “Why, yes, I am a poet,” he answered quietly. “You can be a national poet like Robert Burns of Scotland!” To my surprise, he instantly stood up to reprimand. “Young lady, w-we already have a national poet and his name… “Is William Butler Yeats…a-and …show more content…
“Yes, yes, I wasn’t saying that you didn’t have one! “I was just saying that once you edit your poem and consider it done, “You can become a national poet like him!” I said this in hopes of making him smile again, but his mood fell dim. He sat down again slowly and gravely with a gazing face, That seemed bewitched by miseries, senseless of the world’s pace. As his eyes glimmered with tears, he began to confess, “Oh, Sabine! I-I don’t know what to do!” his voice was bristling with stress. “You know my name?” I asked with surprise, “I heard you conversing with the captain,” he told me with sad eyes, I sat quietly there, pondering this ephemeral shock, But it paled compared to what I’d hear by the next minute on the clock. “I love Marie but her father won’t let us marry!” he whispered on the brink of a sob, “I even had to switch the signs on the docks so that our union he wouldn’t …show more content…
I’m sorry!” At first, I felt a sting of anger for making me unwarily board this ship, But then I gazed in his forlorn eyes and felt pity pursing my lip. “Don’t worry!” I attempted to warmly assure him, “You’ll be able to marry Marie! Your chances aren’t slim!” “But her father, John Trousseau, may not approve! “There is no way his rage and stiffness can be soothed!” I sat there for a moment, but then had an idea great, That can change the couple’s destined fate, And unite them together on a very special day, I pictured it in front of me as a drama or a play. “You know, you can both marry today! “Not only is it a fine morning but it’s St. Patrick’s Day!” His eyes glimmered in keen contemplation, He smiled and said it would be a sensation! After telling his fiancée, she agreed wholeheartedly! And soon, the entire ship was preparing chaotically! For the beautiful event that will unravel tonight, I can’t tell you how much my heart was trembling with
He turned his head toward me and peered at me through swollen eyes. “I begged her not to go with him,” he said quietly. “Do you hear me, I begged her!”
...worried that his wife and daughter were harmed, were lying dead on the floor, but then Marie answered.
I packed my things into a small U-Haul. We were leaving the town I had always known, Houston, to go someplace I barely knew, a small town named Navasota. We moved when I was four because my parents wanted us to experience a small town like they had grown up in. Would I find new friends? Would the people there like me?

“Oh yes, sorry. I’ll get to the point. So as you guys know, dad decided to live somewhere else for a little bit right?” then Cinderella gave them a chance to reply.
He didn’t look too pleased with me but trotted his horse over all the same. I knew the cheeriness was a lost cause.

When discussing the poetic form of dramatic monologue it is rare that it is not associated with and its usage attributed to the poet Robert Browning. Robert Browning has been considered the master of the dramatic monologue. Although some critics are skeptical of his invention of the form, for dramatic monologue is evidenced in poetry preceding Browning, it is believed that his extensive and varied use of the dramatic monologue has significantly contributed to the form and has had an enormous impact on modern poetry. "The dramatic monologues of Robert Browning represent the most significant use of the form in postromantic poetry" (Preminger and Brogan 799). The dramatic monologue as we understand it today "is a lyric poem in which the speaker addresses a silent listener, revealing himself in the context of a dramatic situation" (Murfin 97). "The character is speaking to an identifiable but silent listener at a dramatic moment in the speaker's life. The circumstances surrounding the conversation, one side which we "hear" as the dramatic monologue, are made by clear implication, and an insight into the character of the speaker may result" (Holman and Harmon 152).
