Some writers have accomplished the task of expressing accurately their reflections about the world and the human nature through plots or storylines. Shakespeare is, indeed, one of them. Throughout his play Hamlet, he presents all his points of view using the development and complexity of Hamlet’s character. This will be demonstrated through an analysis of the reflections Hamlet does in his soliloquies. However, to do this, those reflections will be divided and, therefore, better analyzed in three main facets through which Hamlet evolve while the play goes on: the depression, the procrastination, and the action facet.

However, he, a man committed to carrying out his duty with success, exposes his and, in general, the human procrastinating nature with a plus of awareness. To do so, Hamlet uses his melancholy as both a remainder actor and a cause of his delay. A remainder when, for instance, he, moved by the speech of the player about Queen Hecuba, says: “That I, the son of a dear father murdered, / prompted to my revenge by heaven and hell, / Must, like a whore, unpack my heart with words” (2.2. ). And a cause since it leaves place just for reflections about suffering and afterlife matters but not for reflections about his revenge plan. Hamlet’s fourth soliloquy is the mere proof, in it only questions like “to be or not to be? … / Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer / The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, / Or to take arms against a sea of troubles” (3.1. ) take place. In addition, the most revealing element in the whole play of procrastination refers to the opportunity Hamlet had to kill Claudius while he was praying. He, however, ordered: “Up, sword, and know thou a more horrid hent.” (3.3. ). Shakespeare’s Hamlet is arguably one of the best plays known to English literature. It presents the protagonist, Hamlet, and his increasingly complex path through self discovery. His character is of an abnormally complex nature, the likes of which not often found in plays, and many different theses have been put forward about Hamlet's dynamic disposition. One such thesis is that Hamlet is a young man with an identity crisis living in a world of conflicting values.
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet the king of Denmark is murdered by his brother, Claudius, and as a ghost tells his son, Hamlet the prince of Denmark, to avenge him by killing his brother. As the play progresses, Hamlet does not seek his revenge when the opportunity presents itself, and it is the reasoning that Hamlet uses to justify his delay that becomes paramount to the reader's understanding of the effect that Hamlet's mental perspective has on his situation. In order to fully understand how Hamlet's perspective plays an important role in this play, the reader must attempt to answer the fundamental question: Why does Hamlet procrastinate in taking revenge on Claudius?
As the play’s tragic hero, Hamlet exhibits a combination of good and bad traits. A complex character, he displays a variety of characteristics throughout the play’s development. When he is first introduced in Act I- Scene 2, one sees Hamlet as a sensitive young prince who is mourning the death of his father, the King. In addition, his mother’s immediate marriage to his uncle has left him in even greater despair. Mixed in with this immense sense of grief, are obvious feelings of anger and frustration. The combination of these emotions leaves one feeling sympathetic to Hamlet; he becomes a very “human” character. One sees from the very beginning that he is a very complex and conflicted man, and that his tragedy has already begun.

The perfection of Hamlet’s character has been called in question - perhaps by those who do not understand it. The character of Hamlet stands by itself. It is not a character marked by strength of will or even of passion, but by refinement of thought and sentiment. Hamlet is as little of the hero as a man can be. He is a young and princely novice, full of high enthusiasm and quick sensibility - the sport of circumstances, questioning with fortune and refining on his own feelings, and forced from his natural disposition by the strangeness of his situation.
