Hal Young a lived a small life. He lived in a small town most of his life. Or at least as long as he could remember. He and his family had moved from Oklahoma City to Lawton, Oklahoma. A town where “money would be easier to manage”. Hal and his father lived on Andrews Street, three blocks down from the abandoned park. His mother was out of the picture. She died of a terrible disease that no one knew of when he was young. The doctors ran hundreds of medical tests. She was even sent to bigger facilities to identify her illness. She passed away before they could figure out a cure for whatever the disease taking over her body was. Hal had forgotten her though, he decided to keep his thoughts in the moment and try not to become too attached to his family. His father didn’t care much for him anyway. Hal went to Lawton City High School. …show more content…
This day was off to a very bad start. Hal had woken up to get ready to leave for school and he heard footsteps. His father was usually asleep at this hour, so it couldn’t be him. Part of him wished it was his mother, back from the hospital. This childlike part of Hal believed she was still alive. That it was just a matter of time before she got better. Although wishes like that could never come true, and sadly it was his father approaching his door. Hal hoped for his father to be sober, to not continue the events of the night before. Most of Hal’s hopes and wishes never came true. The old man was still drunk, it was unlikely for him to ever not be. He yelled in Hal’s face. It was all a silent blur to Hal now. All the screams, the saliva, the strong hands moving towards his face. It was the quietest uproar known to man. Hal was numb. Numb from previous nights and days of countless commotion. His father finally walked away for a drink and Hal slipped away. He walked down the road that lead toward Lawton High as if it was his bedroom and he was ready for sleep. In a way it
The return to reality was as painful as the return to consciousness after taking and anaesthetic. His body and brain ached with indescribable weariness, and he could not think of nothing to say or do that would arrest the mad flight of the moments He desperately wanted to run away with Mattie, but he could not leave because his practical sense told him it was not suitable to do so partly because of his responsibility to take care of Zeena.

Memory is one of the overarching themes of this narrative, and within that we identify one of the first examples of dual experience. On one side of the coin lies what indeed happened—Being in distress, becoming intoxicated, driving away while gazing through binoculars in a truly reckless manner, and all while coping with a devastating loss. Now exploring the other side of it, as in what we wish to remember—the narrator says this in regards to what he
I woke up at John Morris’ house, on his coach. As I knocked a flyaway hair out of my face I noticed my face was wet, with tears, and then it all hit me at once that my Dad and Mrs. Borden were dead. Suddenly I couldn’t breathe. I heard John Morris ask if I was alright, but that seemed like a completely different world, I responded with a meek okay, so Mr. Morris wouldn’t see me like this. That didn’t work though, I saw his tall shadowy figure ducking under the door frame with tea. As Mr. Morris sat down and put the tea on the coffee table in front of us, I turned my head and quickly wiped the tears from my eyes in hopes he wouldn’t see.

He considers dropping out of Reardan but after some encouragement from his friends, he stays in school but misses about a month. When he comes back to school, his teacher makes a mean comment regarding his loss in his life. His classmates take a stand and walk out on the teacher. Finally, his sister, who ran away to Montana, is killed by a fire that was created by someone leaving the stove on. “But it’s not too comforting to learn that your sister was too freaking drunk to feel any pain when she burned to death!”. Arnold is really saddened when he lost his sister because he liked her and they were
When she went back to Beechwood two years later, she met up with Mirren, Gat, and Johnny. After spending time with them, she remembers and realizes two things. Throughout the film a focus on family and the dynamics is prominent. A traumatic event, the loss of a son, brother, and friend, has influenced the Jarrett greatly. Due to the circumstances in which Conrad, a severely depressed teenager and the main character, was present during the death of his brother, feelings of guilt had built up in this young man. A great deal of stress and tension is built between the family members because of this tragic accident. Here is where the concept of, change in one part of the familial system reverberates through out other parts. (Duty, 2010) The relationship between the Conrad and his mother become even more absent because, in the film it is presented to show that the mother blames and has not forgiven Conrad for the death of his brother Buck. Six months after the death of his brother Conrad attempts suicide with razors in the bathroom of his home. His parents commit him to a psychiatric hospital and eight months later, he is trying to resume his “old” life.
He then finds his long lost 14-year-old daughter, Angela, and challenges his disorder while developing a close relationship with her.
The older man’s name is Bob Wilson, and he was diagnosed with a cataract in his left eye when he was 55. There was a report earlier tonight about a scream that came from his house, but Henry told us it was a scream that came from a nightmare of his. Our officers continued to question Bob’s whereabouts, and Henry said he was ‘absent in the country.’ Our officers searched his house, and the guilt must’ve gotten to him, because he went crazy and confessed to the murder of his uncle, Bob Wilson. My officers must have brought him down to be questioned by you, and now we’re here.” the chief told me.

When Craig Gilner woke up that morning in a panic, he realized what he was feeling was more than just reoccurring suicidal dreams. He understood the emotions he was feeling were very real and not about to just go away. One would expect that the person would try to do so, except Craig did otherwise and checked himself into the hospital. “I guess maybe I didn’t really wanna kill myself, but I kinda did.” - Craig. At first, Craig didn't think there was any way for anything to get better, but then he met Bobby, a man somewhere in his thirties having a hard time with life. Bobby was the one to take Craig under his wing, over time as Craig learned about Bobby's experiences, trying to commit suicide, this made Craig reflect on himself and his own problems. “You’re cool, you’re smart, you’re talented. You have a family that loves you. You know what I would do just to be you for just a day? I would do so much.” – Bobby. This statement really hit the heart for Craig, he realized all the things that were holding him back from enjoying life. Craig initial attitude when walking into the adult ward was "I don't belong here." But each day he began to realize all the things that held him back, that lead to him going into the adult ward, to begin with, His stress about school, family, friends. His anxiety preventing himself from showing the kind of person he is.
It felt so dragged out because all I wanted was to see him and tell him the news. Our connection felt different, phone calls were made shorter and they weren’t as frequent. I missed him. Two nights had gone by without a phone call or even a message. This wasn’t typical of Luke. I was becoming increasingly worried. I tried to distract myself from the situation and went to Atlanta to visit my parent’s for the weekend. This provided a distraction from my despair. When I arrived home, the flat fell silent. I sat aimlessly on the sofa, starring at the telephone, hoping that maybe it would ring. I tried turning my television on but I was oblivious to anything around me. I didn’t know what to do with myself. I knew something was wrong. Fifty-five minutes passed, as I stared at the phone. That was when I heard it

There was a girl named Kandy, she was 15 years old. Her life was extremely boring, all she ever did was go to school, go on her computer, eat and sleep. She spent all summer on her computer. She was really good with HTML and spent her free time making web sites. Kandy didn't have many friends and rarely talked to guys because she was shy and unconfident about her looks. That's why she went into chat rooms. She made a web site with pictures of herself on it and told people in chat rooms to go there. A lot of people would tell her how pretty she was and some would say she was ugly. That made her feel awful. When anyone would say anything nice to her, she wouldn't believe them and think that they were just making fun of her. She only had one real friend that she could talk to, her name was Ang.
