The engine block is known to be the largest piece of metal in a car and also one of the most important part of the engine in which all other components such as the cylinders and pistons are fitted into it and also it contains small holes which act as passage for circulating fluid coolant around the engine to regulate/control the engines temperature. The engine block is where the combustion energy is then transmitted to mechanical energy by the rotation of the crank shafts which then cause the up and down rotation of the pistons which drives the propeller/transmission system that moves the car. In previous engine block models of cars, most were made of iron material, but nowadays engine blocks are manufactured from lightweight aluminum alloy materials to reduce the weight of the car which contributes in good performance (This is mainly found in sports cars), also the cars which have aluminum engine blocks consumes less fuel by producing less emission than those which have iron engine blocks .But in general view ,most of the cars use iron engine blocks because they are cheap...
I want to take over my dads business when I get older and can handle the responsibility
Due to the growing prevalence of stock car racing, muscle cars came into power during the 1960s, which has become known as the Golden Age of Muscle. Lasting from 1960 to 1972, muscle cars enjoyed over a decade of power, and, regrettably, a four decade hibernation. In the past six years, muscle cars have reemerged in the form of the Charger, Challenger, Mustang, and Camaro. The new cars’ styling pays tribute to their Golden Age predecessors. This is the new muscle car age, with competition and corporate pride higher than ever.
After the steam engine was created in the early 17th century, many people and companies tried to take that same technology and apply it to automobiles. Nobody was successful until a British inventor by the name of Richard Trevithick created a multi passenger automobile that ran on a power source that was driven by a steam-propelled piston at high pressure (Bellis). Up until the mid 1900’s cars were only produced by specifically skilled blacksmiths, and were very expensive. There were only about 4,000 cars produced from the 1890’s to mid 1900’s (Bellis).
The Automotive, or electric car industry particularly, comprises all those companies and activities involved in the manufacture of electric motor vehicles (EV), including most components, such as engines, bodies and rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. The industry’s principal products are passenger automobiles. Despite the fact that the first electric cars were produced in 1880s , the advances in internal combustion engines, especially the electric starter, soon diminished the relative advantages of the electric car and became the dominant design in the market. Due to this the EV was almost a forgotten industry staying in the early stage of development, conforming to less than 1% of the automotive stock
Purpose Statement: The purpose of this paper is to divulge in the glorious history of Ferrari.
Car struts are used at the front end on each front-wheel drive vehicle. They are similar to shock absorbers, but have more qualities than shock absorber and a different name. A strut will integrate various suspension parts inside one compact assembly. This usually includes coil spring, spring seats, shock absorbers, strut bearing and steering knuckle.
For hundreds of years society has been divided into various economic, power, and social classes that represent the worth of individuals. Often there are three social classes depicted, the most common being: upper, middle, and lower class. Social status has become an essential part in the way mankind treats one another. The social class system in Watty Piper’s The Little Engine That Could can be analyzed through the conventional symbolism of color used to illustrate a small train’s journey to the other side of the mountain.
The Physics Behind the Power of an Engine Insert the key, turn, and vroom. And down the road you go. Most people take for granted the strange conglomeration of metal and plastic under that sheet of metal, either in front or back of their vehicle. The engine, as you may have guessed, is a modern marvel- so to speak. They’re found in cars, trucks, boats, airplanes.
The case revolves around Bob Marvin, president of the Motor Parts Corporation (MPC), and his executive vice president, AL Shepherd, who held a key senior management position in the company. After Bob, Al had the most important job since most of the line functions reported directly to him. His job required a considerable amount of traveling which he was not able to do lately because of his wife’s illness. Al 's wife, Ruth, was suffering from a malignant brain tumor due to which he was spending more and more time away from work to be with her.
The business world is becoming more and more heated up as a result of the ever increasing levels of competition. Each and every industry is witnessing an alarming rate in the number of competitors that exist within it. This is further fueled by the increasing world population, which brings about the speculations that the future of the market is rather bright. It is interesting as to how many things are nowadays done based on speculations and future expectations. In the turmoil of it all, marketing has been established as a very effective tool used by various firms to gain competitive advantage over others. As such, each organization has been able to develop its own marketing strategy based on the various things that affect the industry and the nature of business undertaken. Theories and practical research are two major items that form the basis of development of marketing strategies. Rolls-Royce is one of the many organizations that have been in big business for a long time. As such, the company has been able to identify major areas of strength and weakness when it comes to marketing.
A four stroke engine is the kind most commonly found in automobiles, and operates in four distinct steps or “strokes”; induction, compression, combustion and exhaust. On the first stroke, the piston moves downward and causes a pressure in the cylinder which is less than the atmospheric pressure outside of the engine. As a result, the air outside of the engine moves into the cylinder where there is less pressure, and is actually forced in because of the now higher pressure outside of the piston. On the second stroke, the piston moves upward and compresses the air with gasoline. The sparkplug ignites the mixture which combusts and moves the piston downward for the third stroke. This is where the power of the engine comes from. The piston then returns upward for the fourth stroke in order to push out the exhaust gases. Because the power of an engine is dependent upon the volume of air that can be drawn into the cylinders, it becomes limited at a certain point when the cylinder reaches its maximum negative pressure, and no more air can be sucked in. Not even an efficient engine, which at best is said to be on...

Most people today fill up their car with different qualities of petrol, because that's what the average car takes. They don't usually consider an alternative for the petrol that they load into their cars. Although petrol is widely used, it is not the only source for a car to get its power from; diesel and electricity are alternatives to the general petrol used by most cars. Although different from each other, diesel and electricity are alternatives to the average gasoline received at a gas station. Diesel is a more concentrated type of fuel that is usually used by big automobiles because they require a lot of power in a little amount of time. Electricity is a method that uses the power of batteries to produce a low horsepower but, nevertheless fast automobile. Electric cars are generally created to be soundless and environment friendly. The purpose of this paper is to classify and educate the reader of the different types of fuel available for an automobile to use: petrol, diesel, and electricity. The general petrol, used by most people, is usually the only type of fuel accepted on the average car in the United States today.
The automobile industry is a pillar of global economy. Globally automotive contributes roughly 3 % of all GDP output. It historically has contributed 3.0 – 3.5 % to the overall GDP in the US. The share is even higher in the emerging markets, with the rates in china and India at 7 % and rising. China produces the highest number of automobiles followed by US and Japan (oica.net, 2015). The industry supports direct employment of 9 million people to build 60 million vehicles and parts that go into them (oica.net, 2015). Many other industries such as steel, iron, glass, aluminium, textiles etc. are associated with the automotive industry and resulting in more than 50 million jobs owed to the auto
In my undergraduate years, I have acquired a strong background in the fundamentals of basic mechanical engineering, having studied subjects such as Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Design of Machine Elements and Automobile Engineering. Whilst pursuing my diploma & degree courses, my interest for Automotive Engineering grew even more having learnt more on the different types of internal combustion engines, their configuration and importance. However, what I lacked was a practical understanding on these core areas of Automotive Engineering. To gain a better understandi...
