I was a very active kid with activities like tumbling, soccer, tap, jazz, and swimming. My brother and I also liked to play out on the driveway or in the yard as often as we could. Our house in Lafayette had a basketball hoop, a very climbable cherry tree in the front yard, two sheds in the back, a playground, and the neighborhood pool down the street. We were always doing something active like soccer, riding our bikes, or swimming. When I moved to Germantown Hills, I immediately joined dance and tumbling classes because I had so much fun in them. I went to Gym Corner for gymnastics until I was in third grade and went to Mrs. K’s studio held at a school in Washington. I was close friends with Anna Shallat at this time, and we went to all the
classes together. Clayton was also enrolled in the jazz class with me. My favorite jazz memory is when Clayton and I had a spotlight moment in our routine because we knew how to do a dance move called “the coffee grinder”. Germantown always felt safe and was very fun. I could play in the driveway even if mom was not outside, we had a trampoline, and we could go to the neighborhood pool in the summer months. I definitely grew up in a middle class setting. Germantown also had the GHAA with soccer, softball and basketball programs. I grew up knowing that I would be safe when I went trick-or-treating or rode my bike through the neighborhood. In the summer since my mom worked a lot, I spent a majority of my time down the street at my aunt’s house. She tooks my brother’s and I on errands and to Washington Five Points when she worked out. Throughout my entire life I have loved board games; my favorite game is called “Aggravation”. As a toddler, I liked dragging Mr. Pig, my stuffed animal, around everywhere I went. As I grew, I became more involved with sports like soccer and softball. I liked to play uno, trash and crazy eights with cards. More recently, I have taken up sudoku as a hobby. I also have liked sewing, crocheting, looming, reading, and watching tv.

I have always been a happy girl, I have a good family good house and a amazing gymnastics career, but two years ago my life changed forever. Ever since I was a little girl I had always known my goal and pushed myself to the highest levels to get it. My goal was the olympics and there was nothing holding me back or at least that's what I thought.
When I was about four or five years old, I was introduced to Ballet. I adored being a little ballerina and would read the same dance booklet everyday, practicing the five positions and gracefully positioning my tiny arms and fingers to match the little girl in the illustrations. When I was eleven years old I made a decision that changed my life forever. Ever since I was three years old I did gymnastics and I loved it. My dream was to become really good and win the olympics and become a world medalist. But this dream quickly was changed. After my eleventh birthday, I was starting to realize I didn 't want to do gymnastics anymore. I told my mom and she was heartbroken but let me do what I wanted, so I quit. Once I quit I decided I wanted to try something else, cheerleading. My mom was thrilled and found a allstar gym in sumner called React.. She emailed the coach but I already missed tryouts. The coach said I could come to practice and see if they needed me and if I would like it. I instantly fell in love and wanted to join. The coach liked me and loved that I could tumble. I made the team that night and my life hasn 't been the same since.
Movies portray cheerleaders as the popular girls that everyone likes and aspires to be. But when reality hits at Salem High School, it’s a completely different story. Cheerleading was taken as a joke by the other athletes and even students. It was considered a hobby, but to me it was a passion and something I worked hard to be. Being on the cheer squad in high school was difficult to deal with in school because we were constantly being snubbed by the other athletes and students in our school ever since we were kids in junior high which should not happen because everyone has the right to do what they love and they should not be judged for it being different than everyone else. It was always us versus them up until my junior year of high school when we finally earned the respect of our peers.
I have been dancing since the age of four. I started my intense training with Tanju and Patricia Tuzer, Debra Bale, and Linda Brown at Tuzer Ballet. I developed as a dancer, attending every summer intensive performing in every show, advancing from intermediate to apprentice to junior company and finally to senior company. According to Martha Graham, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul.” To me, dancing is more than just a hobby, it is my life. My dance team is also more than just a team, it is my second family. Each girl on my team has her own unique personality, but somehow, we all get along well. We are all such good friends and have had to make it through many difficult situations already, but all it has done was bring us closer together. The girls on my team are all caring, talented, and funny.
I went to X-treme Athletics Gym, which is a CrossFit gym. I’ve only known what CrossFit was for about a couple years and I had only seen it in videos or in pictures. I had never seen it in person or have done it myself, so going to X-treme Athletics was a new experience for me. I have been to different gyms that have a variety of workout machines, weights, and usual things that you would normally see at the SJSU gym. But at X-treme Athletics it is a whole different layout then I have seen at other gyms, what you see when going in are free weights, barbells, assaults bikes, rowers, and Gymnastic rings, but most of the gym is open space to workout.
I walked towards the gym red nosed and puffy eyed. My tears had finally subsided, but they would return. I accepted that once I left Oakland Gymnastics that day, I would never return. I knew in my mind that this day would come, but I hadn’t expected it to be so soon. I wanted to move on and try new things, but the thought of leaving the place I spent the last 12 years of my life made my heart shatter. However, I finally made the decision that I was going to quit club gymnastics, but continue on as a high school gymnast.
Once upon a time, I qualified for the Tae Kwon Do State Championships, to go to the Tae Kwon Do Junior Olympics in Orlando, Florida. It was my second year at the Jr. Olympics, and I was competing in two events. Sparring and forms. Forms has always been my favorite, partly because I was pretty good at doing them. Sparring was okay. My love for tennis blossomed at the young age of eleven. During middle school my peers knew me as the boy who was remarkably talented at tennis and I savored that title. Butterflies floated throughout my youthful body whenever someone complimented me. As the years passed, my dad nurtured me into a top player. Before I knew it high school arrived and it was time to compete at a higher level. My excitement was out of this world, but I knew my dad could no longer push me forward and my future was up to me. However, the ego I developed over the years blocked what lie in front of me. 7- Cards of evaluation of learning gymnastic skills under investigation: The researcher designed cards to evaluate learning gymnastic skills under investigation by girls in the two research groups. The cards included stages of performing gymnastic skills under investigation and technical aspects in each stage i.e. technical points the girl should consider during the performance. One score was suggested for each technical aspect provided that the total score of the skill must be (10). The correct performance of the motor skill was evaluated by a committee formed of 3 arbitrators standing on teaching gymnastics as per the evaluation card and final score was calculate through the mean of scores of the 3 arbitrators in each skill (App.6).
Hitting the ending pose of my synchronized skating team’s program at the 2017 Mozart Cup in Austria, I felt my eyes well up from joy and pride. Crying of happiness is a peculiar oxymoronic phenomenon, one I have so far only experienced through my skating career. Reflecting on my nine-year skating journey from stumbling around at my local rink to this moment - winning my first international competition as a member of the Team USA - the exhaustion disappeared from my limbs and was replaced by exhilaration.
A jolt of energy rushed through my body and hit my heart when they call me up to get the team trophy. Not fourth, third, or second, but first place for the third year in a row. Being a captain of a team is an amazing experience. You get to see your team physically, mentally, and emotionally prepare for competition. It's a lot of hard work, but if you try your hardest, make all the practices and have a passion for cheerleading its worth it. Every year we take a few weeks to build a competition routine, the out come is incredible, but the celebration is the best part.
Adding exercises into one’s daily routines can change their whole lifestyle. Many people look at exercise as being something just for people who want to lose weight or to become muscle bound, but there are a great deal of benefits that can be received from exercising regularly. Of course gaining muscle and losing fat are the two most popular reasons that usually attract people to the gym, but they make up a small part of the potential benefits that can be achieved with exercise. There are several ways in which I have benefited in my life from exercising regularly, besides just making me bigger and stronger. It has made me become more organized, helped me make better decisions, and motivated me to take on new challenges in life.
