On February 14, 2018, 17 people were shot and killed. 17 more people were wounded. On December 14, 2012, 28 people were killed including the perp. All around the country, there are people dying due to firearm deaths. There are 13,000 gun homicides every year in the U.S according to EveryTownResearch. Gun control laws should be set in place to prevent these type of things from happening. There are many good and cogent reasons why this should happen. The costs that go to gun violence would drastically decrease. Gun control would decrease the suicide and homicide rates. The anti-gun control people might say, ‘But in the 2nd Amendment it says we have the right to bear arms’ It isn't meant like that. It was made for the militia. We’re wasting all this money on something that can very easily be reduced. As of 2015, the government had $89.2 trillion. They spend almost $4 trillion. About 13% of that comes from gun violence. If gun violence drops so will our expenses. “For example, in a report last year on the cost to the state of Ohio, the center said when you add up the expenses that can be directly measured, including health-care costs, law enforcement and criminal justice expenses, employer costs, and lost income, the initial price tag of gun violence is $2.7 billion a year.” (Singletary) If the number of victims rise, so will the cost. We can't afford the cost. “Researchers from Johns Hopkins analyzed data from a nationally representative sample of 704,916 patients in the United States who arrived at an emergency room alive for treatment of a firearm injury from 2006 to 2014.” The money ranges from $5,ooo to $9,500. That's a lot of money being used and a lot of people being shot and injured. If we regulate guns and enforce gun control, we won't be wasting as much as we are
