Gun Control: The Problems and Solutions The United States today can be a scary place. Someone that is disgruntled, has a mental health issue, radicalized through terrorist propaganda or for any other reason can take up a firearm and mass murder innocent people. It can happen anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Anyone that pays attention to any news or newspapers has probably heard something about gun control. It’s a hot topic in this country and around the world. The National Rifle Association's has come up with a 225-page report contains dozens of recommendations to improve safety in our nation’s schools. For a nation that prides ourselves on extraordinary security and unity, it is quite ironic that so many issues can cause such distress and uproar within communities. One such issue is gun control. As a white male in a middle-lower class family that has never owned a gun, I may be somewhat biased. Objectively as I can, I am going to report the facts and more importantly, try to find the core issues at play.
In The United States of America there are lots of problems that are plaguing our nation. Gun Control is a problem that there is lots of controversy over. This is a problem that had a fire reignited under it when on December 14, 2012 a school in Connecticut was attacked. Many legislative bills have been introduced since then. And television shows and even car commercials often come with a warning to “not try this at home.” Why? Because they know people will. What responsibility does the NRA have on gun control?The NRA supports and teaches responsible gun ownership to people of all ages. They teach classes on gun safety, self-defense, and proper gun usage techniques. They do not promote violence, in fact, they speak out against the modern society that regularly promotes guns and gun violence in a glorified way .Why does it seem the conservatives solution to every gun-related problem is more guns? No, they head to “gun-free zone” schools or movie theatres with “no firearms” signs posted everywhere. Criminals will always take the path of least resistance. And perhaps a school that not only drops the “gun-free” premise but teaches classes on gun safety and has a shooting range will not be high on a deranged person’s list to go to. There are gun control laws to try and reduce the number of violent shootings that occur. They are trying to put limits on weapons that Americans can own. The government is trying to take our guns away mainly because of people that are criminally insane. Most of the people who commit crimes don’t even have the weapons legally. If the government takes away the rights of people who are allowed to have firearms in their possession, it will most definitely cause an outrage. Most people believe that the people should be more capable of maintain proper use of the firearms instead of having them all taken away. Taking the firearms from Americans away would cause a lot more problems than there actually are. The people will be upset with the government taking firearms away because of the horrible people who harm innocent people using them. So they will do anything to their capabilities to keep them.

Gun control is defined as efforts to regulate or control sales of guns; however, most of what we hear from other people is that Obama wants to take away every gun in the nation. That’s not entirely true. Obama’s proposal to Congress is a law that would increase background check protocols, ban assault weapons, high-capacity ammunition, and armor-piercing bullets. The proposal also provides more funding for additional police officers on the streets, first response training, mental health programs, and school emergency plans.
Gun control is a topic of tolerance as well as intolerance, depending on the person’s point of view. We can try to push people towards a brighter future in which guns are carefully watched and handed for. In robberies and assaults, victims are far more likely to die when the perpetrator is armed with a gun than when he or she has another weapon or is unarmed.
The US is among the various countries that are having problems with enacting laws that control guns. However, what the world fails to understand is that controlling guns does not end crime. Controlling crimes is the only sure manner and way of maintaining peace and order in various states across the US and the whole world. The various administrations have been trying to address the issue of mass shootings and illegal owning of firearms to no success. Controlling guns cannot thus end crime. The solution lies with putting an end to the crime itself first before checking on guns.

In the past, he has argued for the ban of certain assault weapons and for background and mental health checks. However, Sanders did not end his fight for stricter gun control there. He is currently working on expanding background and mental health checks as well as eliminating gun shows because loopholes have become a big problem. Other than Sanders, politician such as Joe Manchin and Pat Toomey, are also for stricter gun control. Although these two are republicans and gun owners, they strongly see a need for it. The debate over gun control in America has constantly brought up over the years due to gunmen killing large amounts of civilizations in shootings. From Columbine to Sandy Hook or the shootings of the two reporters in West Virginia, these public shootings are occurring everywhere. Lawmakers and civilians alike are pushing for increased gun control in hopes of preventing the same tragedies. Anybody that has been affected by the shootings have been pushing Congress and state governments to force new sanctions on government.
