Growth mindset is the ideal mindset for the growth of a student (Robinson, 2017). Having a growth mindset has been shown to help students improve their intelligence and therefore become more successful (Robinson, 2017). One of the key factors to help motivate a growth mindset in students is communication. There are two folds to the communication – communication between the professor and the student, and communication of student with himself (Robinson, 2017). Exercising both forms of communication in a balanced nature will help develop the growth mindset of the student and therefore give positive results (Robinson, 2017). It is a work of art, it’s all about the mind and its power of imagination. To be able to be fully satisfied with their writing, one has to have a clear head. If one is to succeed in writing classes at CMU, one has to be adaptive to learning new skills which will help him improve his craft (Robinson, 2017). To be open to new things means, one needs to have a growth mindset. Though there are quite a lot of ways through which one can develop their growth mindsets, one of the key ways to do the same is through communication. By doing this with ones self or others, communication plays a major role in procuring a growth mindset (Robinson, 2017). Re-framing language when communicating expectations and feedback is a definite way to set higher expectations for learning (Tourville & Sprunger 2013). Re-framing language is a part of effective communication. Rephrasing sentences and the tones of a voice can change a person’s ability to perceive data and improves learning. Effective communication has been shown to be an important part of the leaning process (Robinson, 2017). Using open ended questions and giving a person an ability to voice opinions can be argued that this a key to success for communicating among each other.Communication comes in all forms, communication has been argued that it is a powerful tool that can help students at CMU advance growth …show more content…

Self-doubt and fear of failure is inevitable (Robinson, 2017). Thoughts like ‘I am not good enough’ or ‘This is too hard. I give up’ will create a negative mindset in the student (Robinson, 2017). This will result in a fixed mindset, where the student will not see any scope of improvement (Robinson, 2017). This will affect his productivity and therefore result in a mediocre writing (Robinson, 2017). The professor should help the student adapt a more positive look towards himself and his writing. For example, instead of saying ‘I can’t do this,’ the professor can help the student find a more positive approach by thinking, ‘Is there someone who can help me out?’ Instead of thinking ‘I am not good enough,’ the student can think, ‘In what ways can I improve my skills and become good?’ Mistakes are bound to happen and obstacles will always be there as a roadblock but the professor can teach students how to use positive self-talk, and help themselves develop the skills and confidence they require to write their work
