You stumbled out of the slowly moving contraption, tears streaming down your face. You could hear the laughter and excitement of your friends in front of you. They weren't feeling what you were, and you doubted they would understand.
You followed the sound of their voices, trying not to stumble in your fragile state. Soon you entered a shop, where reminders of what you just went through were laid out left and right. You really hated crying.
You stumbled out of the shop, downright sobbing now. People looked at you in concern, but no one intervened. Finding a bench, you sat and pulled your knees up to your chest.
Harry Potter. It was NOT just a book series to you. It was a big chunk of your life- your whole childhood, even. You'd grown up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione, battling the dark forces every year at Hogwarts. Harry Potter meant more to you than anyone could understand. It was there for you when life was horrible, sad, or just plain dull.
It meant so much to you that just one ride on Universal Studio's Forbidden Journey in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was enough to send you into a frenzy of tears. And you aren't one to cry easily in public.
You wiped your tears, breathing hard to regain your composure. Not wanting to rejoin your friends, you closed your eyes and relaxed in the warm Florida sun. They weren't as effected by this experience as you and being around their happiness would just be tiring.
After a couple minutes, you were feeling a lot calmer. You felt the bench move as someone plopped down on the bench to your right. To your surprise, you could hear faint sniffling.
You glanced surreptitiously at the crying person and saw a young blonde man about the same age ...
... middle of paper ...
...iled. You leaned your head against his shoulder and continued to cry.
"…________?"
"Huh?" You sniffed and looked up at him.
"Are you going to be here tomorrow?"
"…Yeah." You hoped that he was going to suggest what you thought he was.
Arthur squirmed a little. "Would you mind hanging out with me tomorrow? The idiot I came with annoys me so much, and he just doesn't understand like you do…"
You were so happy. You blushed and beamed at him. "Sure I will! It's a date!" you exclaimed.
He blushed. "Well..Urm- I guess.."
"C'mon Arty, let's go get our wands!"
"Arty??"
"And I saw some robes across the room, we should DEFINITELY buy some!"
Arthur just smiled and gave into his excitement. "Definitely!" You two flitted around the room, checking out every item possible.
Tomorrow will definitely be interesting.
Harry Potter is a very good story within the media that portrays all four major agents of socialization pretty well. The influence of family in Harry's life was changed because of how Voldemort had heard the prophecy of a child who will be a threat to him. This is a great example of a self-fulfilling prophecy since Voldemort reacts to this by trying to kill Harry. The result of this, of course, only sets-up his own destruction.

Harry Potter is a fascinating tale of sorcerers, wands, broomsticks, dragons, and magic. The story begins with a young boy named Harry Potter who lives at number four Privit Drive, Surray, England. His journey begins after the death of his parents at the hands of the evil Lord Voldemort. Harry learns of his past and his future as a wizard from Hagrid, the keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He travels to Hogwarts where he learns spells and enchantments, makes new friends, finds enemies, and discovers fantastic secretes. J.K. Rowling weaves a web of impeccable storytelling with this critically acclaimed novel. In the tale of Harry Potter imagery, symbolism, and motif take central focus.
J.K Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, saved reading. She took 5 years to do it. It took her 5 years to write and get the first Harry Potter book published. She went to over 10 publishers before someone finally published it. “The original edition appeared on June 30, 1997, in a run of 500 copies, most of which went to public libraries.”(Lebrecht), that’s how many people were expected to read her book. But after the word got out of Harry Potter everyone started reading it. Harry Potter greatly impacted society greatly by making everyone; even adults want to read again.
‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, written by J.K. Rowling, is an excellent example of a modern novel that uses medieval influences extensively. Many of the novel’s characters are based on medieval ideas and superstitions. The settings in the book resemble old medieval towns as well as castles. The book is also full of medieval imagery such as knights in armour, carriages etc. Whilst there is no time travel involved in the novel, the medieval period is used to such an effect that the reader is encouraged to ignore the fact that the book is set in the present.
The first Harry Potter book came out in 1997, and no one at the time could imagine that in the 10 years that followed, it would become the most read children’s book and a $6.4 billion worth film franchise. The aim of this essay is to try to explain the reason for the popularity of the Harry Potter books. The aim is also to show the changes that the series caused, how they influenced the people who read them, how they had an impact on literacy and overall, on British popular culture. In the first part of the essay I will briefly explain the beginning of the Harry Potter phenomenon and its growing popularity in the countries all over the world. In the second part I will deal with the character of Harry, explaining why he has such an appeal to the readers and how come people identify with him. In the third part, I will explain the impact Harry Potter books have on society, how they influence young adults and children. The fourth part will deal with the controversies about Harry Potter, the views and thoughts of religious people who see Harry Potter as a book that should be banned. In the fifth part, I will mention the difference the phenomenon caused when it comes to the book business and the film industry of Britain.
Your books have taught me to be brave and not give up. Harry would never give up to protect everyone from the worst sorcerer in the world, Voldemort. He even made the ultimate sacrifice of not being able to die and see his parents in the afterlife because Voldemort was the only one able to kill Harry. Harry made this sacrifice to protecst everyone. He didn't give up to any of this. This was truly inspiring to me and led me to make choices that didn't just benefit a few people, but everyone.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was written by J. K. Rowling and is the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. The book is about a seventeen-year-old wizard, named Harry Potter, who has to travel all over England to find things that will help him defeat the evil wizard, Lord Voldomort. The main theme/moral of the entire series is good will always triumphs over evil. In every book, even when it looks like evil is going to win, good always triumphs in the end.
I waited there for a few minutes and then I felt this quiet and calm, deep inside. After a few more minutes of feeling this, I felt that I wanted to get up and make myself some nice dinner. I even said to myself: “This isn’t so bad, I can deal with this”.
I let out a withered sigh, which caused me to choke in the middle of yet another sob. I had had enough. I weakly pulled myself out of the pool and walked to my towel. I grabbed the huge, orange and white stripped thing and wrapped it around my shivering body, hoping to find some warmth and comfort; but even my monstrous beach towel could not cut the chill I felt inside. I started to walk to the changing room past the hundred faces I knew nothing of, but by now were familiar. I had searched each face a hundred times hoping to see someone I knew. Finally, I realized that I knew none of them, and the person I was looking for just wasn't coming.
Before reading Harry Potter, I very rarely read for pleasure. I found reading boring, almost old fashioned. My frame of mind more readily paralleled Danny Divito in the movie Matlida, who says that “[t]here's nothing you can get from a book that you can't get from a television faster.” While my view of reading as a child could be summed up in that quote, everything changed when I was introduced to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I can remember to this day when my Dad began reading Harry Potter to me, and how I did not understand just how much this book would change me. Harry Potter and his world of wizardry became my own personal Shangri-La, my escape, my own world. Anytime I wanted, I could ascend to a world of fantasy and explore the depths of my own imagination in a way that I had never been capable of doing before. I became obsessed with the book, reading it before, during, and after sc...
“It will be okay,” she had said. My sister never lies, but that day she did, taking a rather large part of me with her, leaving behind an empty shell that searches for a glimpse of her in the busy marketplace. I grasp the shoebox tightly, suddenly coming to a realization. It was never her harbouring hope of a family from the photographs, rather me hoping it would be enough to anchor her to me. I close my tired eyes, vision growing fainter, body becoming paralyzed, and the busy voices of the flea market muting to a dull throb. And slowly I fall, fall into the dark abyss of my mind, memories blurring out the present for the past, until all that remains (of us) is a shoebox filled with photographs.
