“Greek life: Fraternities and sororities.” This is something you will hear a lot during your freshman year in college. As a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, I’m so happy and proud of what our sorority stands for, and to find a family away from my family. ZTA raises awareness about breast cancer. There are countless pros that you will never experience if you were not in a fraternity or sorority. Being able to connect with many other girls, that can lead into lifelong friendships, and who supports you. They can help you improve you social and leadership skills. We help charities to raise money and awareness.
Greek life helps international student to join our families and being able to dive into American culture and society and leave back with an experience that they may never had otherwise. As we were bidding goodbyes for her college adventures, what she was more excited was for her bid day. Fraternities and sororities have disadvantages. As getting to know about multiple incidents such as hazing, drinking, cheating, and cost it gives me worries if this is what she should be involved in. Numerous studies show that the members of fraternities and sororities have high rates of academic dishonesty. Research shows how members who are good at certain subjects help to take other members online assignments, homework, and lab reports (Storch). As from many of my colleagues I have heard how Greek life students keep assignments and lab reports at their sorority houses, which are used by incoming students. This situation leads Instructors to change assignments every year or sometimes end up catching a student for dishonesty and giving them a failing
