For centuries people have argued and debated on what makes a person a good United States citizen. Some may argue that there is one specific thing, but I believe that there are many different aspects that make a person a Good United States citizen. Those aspects include: Following federal, state, and local laws, Staying informed and participating in your community, Supporting and defending the Constitution, and respecting others. First, I think following any law made in the United States whether it’s a federal, state, or local law is one of the most important things a person can do to be a good United States citizen. Stop for a second and really think about how laws affect people and society. Now think about what society would be like if people didn’t have laws and rules to follow. There would be widespread madness and chaos. Laws and rules give and define healthy boundaries. These healthy boundaries then in return set punishments for crossing the boundaries. I believe having set laws and rules protect people because It sets a defined line between right and wrong. Knowing right from wrong is a very important trait to have in order to be a good U.S. citizen because having this trait will aid you in following the laws. …show more content…

As a country that is constantly changing and growing, it’s important to know what’s going on and what you can do to help. When a person becomes informed on issues and problems that face their country, they can take action themselves and try to make a positive change. To me, that’s what makes a really good citizen. The United States wants their people to come together and work as a whole to make the country better and thrive.
