Natural Law vs. Conventional Law
There are two types of laws. There are conventional laws and natural laws. Conventional laws are those laws arrived at through consensus between those governed and the government. Natural laws are those laws that are universal and are derived from the natural order of the world. In my opinion, natural law cannot work in our society, as they are not suitable for our environment and how we live together as a society. Natural laws can’t work without causing trouble and chaos between everyone, so why should we place them in our society? On the other hand, conventional laws are governed and are made to be just for the society. That is why we need conventional laws in our society, not natural laws. Also, since conventional laws are governed, they are made sure to be enforced, and breaking them will only ruin that one person for what they have done, not the society as a whole.
One reason natural law can’t work in our society is because everyone has his or her own idea of what is right or wrong. Killing and stealing are both known as universally wrong deeds, but there are some laws that many people may agree with and many people may be against. This means if natural law were in place, no one would know what is right or wrong. For example, Quebec is trying to pass a ¬¬¬law to ban religious symbols in public institutions. Some people agree with this law and some are totally against it. If natural law were in place, how are people supposed to know what is right and what is wrong. This would lead to chaos and conflict, not a peaceful society, which is the point of having laws.
Another reason that natural law can’t work is because it does not take into account people with mental disabilities or people who do n...

In the end, democracy is the best form of government. It gives people a say in who should rule, it allows the best decisions to be made, and laws that are fair and just according to the majority of that societies’ needs. This can provide a very good and peaceful country, and that’s why democracy is a better form of government than oligarchy, dictatorship, communism, or monarchy. Government is needed to control and bring peace to a society, which other forms of government cannot do to the best of their ability due to their structure. In conclusion, democracy is the best form of government for the people.
