What is goodness? Goodness is a choice that we have the power to make. Choosing the right thing is hard sometimes , but every single human being is born with the potential to choose the right thing. I believe that everyone is born with goodness and sin inside of them. Psalm 51:5 states, “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” This means that everyone is born with sin inside of them. However, after the influences of everyone around them, they get to choose whether to follow a good path or evil path. Choosing the good path doesn’t mean people are perfect all the time, because nobody’s perfect, but it means trying your best to do good, righteous duties. However, over time, one of those values will overcome the other, and this is caused by everything around that person over the years. A person growing up with a bad, unloving family, mean teachers, and gangster friends will most likely absorb those mean, bad aspects and sin will overtake them. Take Caracas, Venezuela for example. This city was named the most violent city in the world in 2016. It is a rundown city with many dangerous attacks that take place. Why? To start off with, Caracas had evil people doing evil things, and these actions will be passed onto children watching in their grimy neighborhood. These children do not know any better. It is almost like dominos falling down, they will keep going down if nothing good gets in the way to stop it. Just like the kids in Caracas, kids and adults will look at you and copy the acts you do. This is one indirect way humans can do their part in a making this world a “good” world. Also, talking directly to people about being honorable is another way to fill Earth with respectful, humble humans. Spread around God’s word, guidance, and kindness to everyone around, and, sooner or later, if everyone participates in spreading these ideas around, the world will be a good world.
