Since the dawn of modern civilization the terms good and evil have been used to describe the world and the various things within it. Things ranging from the concepts of the Devil, to the kid the cut in front you in the lunch line in the third grade, evil can be defined in many ways, however, evil is generally defined as something that goes against a single set of moral principles that society has defined. This is not true because evil is something that an individual perceives that they believe will cause them harm and goes against their individual moral beliefs, not some universal concept accepted by everyone. The morals of society concept is exemplified by the Judeo-Christian religions. These religions base their moral principles on their respective religious texts that they believe to contain God’s will. …show more content…
Chances are that you said yes, almost instantly after reading the question. However, to Hitler he probably believed that he was truly helping his country by killing these people who he believed were responsible for it’s downfall. Hitler was considered a hero to some people for his action and is still considered a hero by some. These people developed their morals in places where Hitler’s actions were considered morally correct. Would you consider these people evil? They were raised with a completely different perspective on certain events than you were. You might consider these people as evil, but at the same time these people view you as evil for going against their beliefs. So in the end, who is truly evil? Is it the people who you were raised on the belief that Hitler’s actions were morally right? Or is it you who was raised with the perspective that his actions were despicable act of genocide. It is up to you as an individual to decide who and what is evil in the world, because in the end these evils affect only you and what you believe is morally right and
The lines that define good and evil are not written in black and white; these lines tend to blur allowing good and evil to intermingle with each another in a single human being.
Shirley Jackson’s short story “ The Possibility of Evil” is about a little old lady named Miss Strangeworth. She thinks she’s in charge of the town and to make sure it’s free from all evil because her grandfather built the first house on Pleasant Street. At first Miss Strangeworth is a nice little old lady, worrying about people and wondering what others are up to. Then in the middle of the story she becomes a little rude to a few of the townspeople. In the end Miss Strangeworth thought she was getting rid of the evil in the town, but in reality she was causing evil in the town by showing her true colors and being extremely mean and cruel to others. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover because people aren’t always what they seem to be.
There are two kinds of evil, moral and natural. Moral evil is things like murder, rape, stealing, terrorism, etc. Natural evil is things like suffering and unpleasantness typically as a result of moral evil. Evil is that which has no power of its own. Evil is darkness, a negation of light. Its power is in us, in our fear of it, in that we consider it a "something" worth responding to.
Adolf Hitler had a bad childhood that made him a bad man in his adult years. Hitler’s grandfather was jewish. He was a troubled child ever since he was 7. He had a bad childhood his grandpa used to beat him when he didn’t listen. That made him a bad man when he was older. He killed millions of jews and other people. He didn’t have a good family in his life growing up.He didn’t really have a mom she would rather spend time with men instead of her own son. Altho he was a bad man that killed millions and sent people to death camps. It wasn’t his fault he became an afol man. It was because of his childhood that started the camps the slaughter of jews and blacks and gays.
First I like to think of Hitler's own tragic life. Denied of love from his parent, his biggest dream, to be an artist, taken away. Then in the country he fought hard to defend, mustard gas was thrown at his face. Imagine being in the hospital, only to find out the place you have risked your own life for has surrendered, and worse yet, taken the blame for the war. All of this, and nothing ever will, excuse what Hitler felt was okay to do to anyone, but it does give insight, to possibly why he may have done the things he did. Why he felt it would be okay to kill thousands of the races he discriminated agianst.
Every person has their own opinion on Adolf Hitler, but some do believe he was a good man. He did very terrible things that didn’t even need to be done, and ruined many lives. I have always wondered what could lead Adolf Hitler to want to do such terrible things to such innocent people and destroy so many lives. Only serial killers could find joy in killing a person because it gives them a rush. Once they feel that rush they want to feel it again and again. That’s what leads them to keep going and doing it over and over. Hitler’s mind was like a serial killers mind. He was so okay with going into other countries and destroying them and killing whoever came in his way. What does that have anything to do with the Jews? They were simple people just living their lives and he needed a target to make his campaign stronger. A Psychopath would kill 6 million Jews to make sure they can have what they
...nto carrying out the orders. When other nurses were asked to discuss what they would do in a similar situation (i.e. a control group), 21 out of 22 said they would not comply with the order. Hofling concludes that people are very unwilling to question supposed ‘authority’, even when they might have good reason to as well as are willing to follow authority blindly even against their better judgment and rules in place (Mcleod 2008).
“For the dead and the living, we must bear witness.” -Elie Wiesel. Reading those 10 words could make a person’s spine tingle. This quote is about the Holocaust where millions of innocent Jews were killed by Adolf Hitler. It was not an avoidable situation, and definitely couldn’t have been prevented even if a series of actions occurred. Hitler has been planning this genocide more than a decade before he became Chancellor. After WW1 and the Treaty of Versailles was created, it made Germany desperate to fix their Country. Lastly, Hitler was an amazing manipulator, and even convinced Hindenburg, the chancellor at his time in office.
The persona of Adolf Hitler is, without question, an infamous one. He was a historically significant figure who, as national leader of Germany, staged the perpetration of arguably the most despicable acts of genocide in recorded history. Hitler’s role as the architect of the Holocaust places him at the top of the list of history’s villains. By committing atrocities that most of us find beyond comprehension, Hitler has for many people become the definition of evil, an example of absolute malevolence even to those who normally argue they do not believe in an absolute moral code. This twisted perpetrator of unspeakable wickedness has caused many to search for explanation of his evil. No other historical leader has had his motives, personality, and persuasive abilities questioned and debated by historians, psychologists, theologians, and philosophers to the extent Hitler has.
We all have gone through troubling times in our life. We have all experienced pain and loss one way or another. The Holocaust was a completely different kind of horror, and Adolf Hitler was the sole cause of World War II and the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a terrible time for the Jewish people of Germany. Hitler had two plans for Germany, the camp life was traumatizing and the aftermath of the Holocaust left Germany both physically and mentally broken.
In my opinion, what is considered “good” and what is considered “evil” is almost entirely subjective, though heavily shaped and molded by the society in which an individual lives. The established rules and norms to which every society adheres tend to be cultural and will obviously differ between respective cultures accordingly. One culture’s interpretation of “good” can very well be another culture’s interpretation of “evil” and so on. This is even true between individuals within the confines of the same society or culture—obviously not everyone thinks the same or holds the general rules and norms of their culture in high esteem. Another important influence on the way in which people perceive and regard what is “good” and what is “evil” is
While the war was going on and people were trying to find Hitler him and his mistress made a choice of death. Hitler and his love got ready to commit suicide. Eva Braun and Hitler died in different ways. Hitler shot himself so the pain would go away quickly, while his wife took poison”(Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). Giving her a slow and painful death. Hitler has really been the Villain from the movies but worse. The deaths he caused caused great pain to their families being said some of them never got to say goodbye.“There is perhaps no other individual whose name is more synonymous with evil than that of Adolf Hitler. Hitler’s legacy is one of racism, hatred, and destruction, and he remains vilified across time and space.” (Miller J 6-12). Adolf Hitler is evil and should be the definition for evil. We might never know if there will be anyone worse than him but he certainly gets a lot of attention today. “ The effects of World War II and the Holocaust are almost incalculable and the level of destruction wrought on the world by Hitler’s vision almost incomprehensible.” (Miller J 6-12).World War II isn’t just a war to remember the evil in the in some souls but to remember who was forced to fight for him and still died. It’s a war to remember who died defeating him, it’s a war to remember and tell everyone for
To understand evil we must first understand the concept that good and evil are term or words referring to what one given individuals believes to be the right and wrong thing to do. Good, many times symbolized as god or light, is usually associated with an action that many individual see as helping one or many people. This definitions is again very hard to define due to it bias and opinionated nature. But many and most people will agree that good, is what helps not only the common people become a stronger as a community but also become stronger as in...
People tend to wonder and theorize why the Nazi-leader killed over 11 million people, just in concentration camps. As well as over 60 million more soldiers were killed because of Hitler’s plot to end all other governments and become the Supreme leader of all the land, governing the “perfect race”. In a quest to find other people’s opinions before realizing the facts, I asked 6 people their opinion on this question. 5/6 of my participants stated that they believed Hitler was evil. I agreed with those 5 people who stated that Hitler was evil. However, I was stunned to found out that Hitler suffered from several mental and personality disorders. These personality disorders are nowhere close to an excuse as to why Adolf Hitler committed these horrendous crimes he made against humanity. However, these facts may bring into light an eye that sees more into the mind of the insane ruler we loathe thinking about today.
